2 Days Post, Sureal

I had my surgery on Halloween, I was discharged last night. So far it's totally surreal. I don't hurt really, but I get nauseous if I'm not careful and everything feels swollen and distended.

I'm doing alright with my Protein drinks, I've been sticking with the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken soup-I like it much better than the shakes since I can't mix anything in.

The thing that surprised me most is how surprised I was to wake up. I hadn't realize how wound up I was until I woke in surgery and was honestly surprised and relieved to be alive. In retrospect that's the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced.

I just wanted to let you all know how well I'm feeling, I wasn't expecting that I would be in so little pain. I am crazy gassy but I haven't really hurt yet at all. I was expecting to be in actual pain (like after my c-section) but I would most accurately describe this as discomfort. I am a little loopy from the narcotics, and I get cranky about 30 minutes before its time to take them again, but if I take them in time I feel better within about 20 minutes.

Thanks proudgranny. I think it's valuable to hear the range of experiences. Obviously I only know how I feel at this phase but I hope I stay feeling good and can post more as I learn more.

I've really enjoyed reading the posts on these boards, I've found them all very very helpful to my understanding and support through the decision and I know I'll need the support as I work through the next steps!

This is nice to hear...I am getting really nervous for my up coming surgery which is just this Tuesday. I am hoping I have the same experience as you do.

I hope you have a good outcome too! I can't tell you how relieved I feel. I'll try to update next week or if anything changes.

It is hard to remember to drink, so make sure you have a good Water bottle that's easy to carry!

I'm 31, I topped out at 302 and I'm 5'4". I lost down to 284 on the Optifast, but I seem to have gained that back in gas weight while I was in surgery! I didn't realize it could be that much, hopefully it will be gone soon!

Ive heard that others gained while in the hospital from being pumped with fluids. Im sure youll lose it super fast. Im also 5'4. Starting out at 242 HW, currently at 236 but still have to do my pre-op liquid diet so Im hoping I will be lighter than 236 by surgery date (12/5). Hope everything else goes as good as its been so far :)

So great to read all of your experiences. I was sleeved yesterday, and am home now. Very sore and nauseous when I drink anything, but happy to be home. Began this journey at 333 lbs. and 5'9". By yesterday I was down to 289...

I loved reading this positive post about your experience! Now that's I've chosen a surgeon, gotten the money together, and am actually doing this I'm getting a little nervous too. But I'm praying for an experience similar to yours. Good luck to you on the rest of your adventure!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
