My date is Sept. 24th. I am glad that my Dr. had a cancellation and I was able to get it. I have my NUT class on 9/10 and start my 2 week pre-op. I am excited, anxious and scared all at the same time. Anyone have advise as far as pre-op diet (good foods, bad foods)?

I am 63. I knew getting the puff out of my face would allow the lines to show up. I pictured my face looking like a Rolling Stone: thin and raisin-like in texture.
As it turned out it is not that bad. It also helps that my new energy and sense of well being makes me not give a rat's posterior about it.
I'd rather be an obnoxious old-looking guy that doesn't know how to "act his age" than a young looking old guy that acts decrepit and feeble.

Yeah I know I did leave. I'm just sitting here on my ass though. I could be in there working but I don't want to be bombarded by the smell. That's why I asked if they wouldn't mind eating in the other room. They're not working while they eat... I don't want to go for a walk because I live in Texas and its about 100000 degrees here and I feel weak anyway. Oh well. I just felt like I needed to vent a little. I know others don't conform their lives around me, but I also know what I was asking wasn't much.

Hello! My name is Brittany. I am a 25 year old mother of 2 beautiful girls, I work and am in graduate school. I had my surgery last year on 11/23/11 (the day before Thanksgining). It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have been lurking on these boards since before I had surgery and have finally decided to stop being antisocial and join already! I glad to be a part of the group now!

I am sorry both you and mizzliz83 are having this difficulty. I am sending out positive thoughts of healing and health.
I have not been sleeved yet but based on reading tons of posts it seems as if everyone heals differently and at different
rates. I hope things start getting better each day for you.

i opted for the nutri-bullet. so far so good. you can leave it run longer to get more smoothie types or you can turn it off sooner to get more mushed up.
i can keep you posted if yo like as i experiment. i know a lot of people on amazon probably havent gone through what we are/will be going through i spent a few nights reading reviews on amazon on all the blenders, juicers, etc. that i was interested in.
    good luck!

wow what a surprise! Of course it will take you time to process and then the excitement will kick in..just had this happen to my daughter and a coworker, both after
14 years since babies. You have started such good habits and if you nurse you may end up much smaller than you started. Also I know all my classes, approval etc is good for 1 year according to my insurance so you may not have to start from scratch if you do continue on the surgery path.
Regardless I know one year from now you will be saying this was the best thing that could have ever happened in your life!

ladiJ got a reaction from rdoactv in Reaching Your Goal Weight...what Happens After That?
    rdoactv,
should have been a bit more clear and I am not sure I can explain it unless you too have lived it. For 30 years i was a smoker and when I quit, I spent the first year or so still focused on how long since my last smoke, how many days, I am not a smoker blah blah..even though I was not smoking my thoughts and energy were constantly focused on smoking or not smoking, after the third year I never thought about it anymore, days and weeks would pass I would not even recall I use to be a smoker..I want to get to that place with weight..Most of the time I make healthy choices, I exercise, I eat when hungry and I am no longer consumed with thoughts of food, eating or not eating or dieting. I hope that is possible with the sleeve.

ladiJ reacted to PdxMan in Reaching Your Goal Weight...what Happens After That?
This is an interesting question, for sure. What does it mean ... to reach goal?
I started at around 300 pounds and my goal was 200 (or whatever amount it takes to loose my moobs). I thought that was kind of pie-in-the-sky, but why not? Well, I started exercising a lot and was pretty anal about following the sleeve rules and hit 200 after about 5 months. I still had some belly fat, so I reset my goal to 190. That number came and went after a few more months (moobs gone, btw). So, I wondered, too, what was going to be my final weight? I eat whatever I feel like, but know that I eat pretty well. I am not a saint ... I had a bowl of Reese's PB ice cream tonight (1/2 cup).
So, what is life like? I eat whatever I want. I don't worry about my weight at all. I did weigh myself the other day and I clocked in at 175. I figure my body will find the weight it is supposed to be. I don't count my calories or my carbs. I didn't get sleeved to be a slave to a diet. Just the opposite, actually.
So, my suggestion is to not set a target that you feel you have to reach and if you don't, you're a failure. Let's not beat ourselves up. Just do the best you can to follow the guidelines and find the foods that work for you. Find an exercise routine that works for you and do it ... a lot.
You're body will find the place it needs to be and you will be heathier for it ... physically and mentally.
