Any November 14Th Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! Since surger on the 14 and having times stay in the hospital til Sat the 18 things have very slowly been improving. They had me staying in the hospital an extra night due to high heart rate. Which came down as soon as they said I could home. While in the hospital I was using an over head bar to help lift myself in and out of Bed and my ended up getting horrible pain in my left shoulder. Did xray everything was fine. Finally the PA came in and say she was going remove my drain that when lifting myself the tube might have got stuck around diaphragm. And can cause shoulder pain. So she removed the drain and instantly shoulder pain went away. What a relief. Since being home find it hard to get all fluids in and have to remind myself I dont have to finish them in a set time. I can take it slow. A surprise for me was I didn't know how exhausted I would really be from this. I am so tired after the smallest task. But even takin a shower knocks me out lol Tomorrow will b 1 wk post op and I do an official scale check! Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone. I was sleeved on the 14th and home the next day. No nausea, gas, etc. my only issue is the incision pain. It is excruciating. I rarely take pain med but am still taking to keep me from crying. Doctor said that this is normal since this is where the most work was done. Yesterday I was able to get all my Protein in plus my liquid vitamins. I just really need this pain to subside so I can appreciate the greatness of this surgery and start my new life.

P.S. haven't pooped. Starting to get worried.......

Crystal Light makes a flavor with added Fiber - it might help with this...

Well, today is my first day back at work and I feel great. I've been drinking Water like crazy and I can't wait to advance to full liquids on Thursday. I'm still having a hard time sleeping in my bed so tonight it's back to the couch I go :( I've been adding like 1 Protein. shake per day since yesterday and I must say that I have way more energy. I'm not supposed to advance until Thursday but I was starting to feel really exhausted and the small shake really helped. I can only drink one and it takes all day to get in.....I'm down 12.6 still feels like a really low number and that gets me worried still....but I'm just ready to be back to life and finally enjoy this baby tummy :)

Congrats on being back at work so soon. I was sleeved on the 14th and my surgeon won't release me back to work until December 10th. 12.6 lbs is a WONDERFUL loss! :-) don't get stuck on numbers . I'm on the full liquid diet for another 10 days...I can't WAIT to moved to puréed foods lol. All this drinking and sipping is tedious lol

I mentioned to my husband that my son and I took a nap together yesterday because I was getting very tired and his response was "surgery was a week ago!" presumably I should now be up to doing a marathon or something....

But I am the same. I get quite tired. So I rest. But each day is getting better :)

Ok, one full week since surgery! :)

I started on oct 31 at 240, lost a good 10lbs before surgery on pre-op diet. Down now a total of 15lbs. Kinda thought I might be down more after surgery, but I know that right after surgery, I bloated up and kind of "gained" some back, which I assume is temporary. So I'll take 15lbs in 3 weeks!

Still sore, trying to wean off/down on the Percocet. I'm getting in all my Protein, just not all my Fluid. I'm a type II diabetic and have been off all meds since the day I left the hospital, and my blood sugars are WONDERFUL now- pretty much 98-105 all the time!!!!

One week out and down 10 lbs already! The sleeve is amazing! I am having a tough time sticking to a full liquid diet though... I sick of Protein Shakes and want real food. Been doing good about getting all my Protein and Water in though.

Wowza! Eating nothing on Thanksgiving when you're cooking for everyone made all of this very real! Hope you all enjoy the smells and look forward to the many many many more Thanksgivings we will all be able to enjoy.

I started moving around every few hours when I got home. Pooped like a champ the 4th day. I'm on hydrocodone liquid. Honestly, if I didn't move around, I would be so constipated.

Yes, I was sleeved on 11/14 and I just developed a sharp, nagging pain in my left shoulder, kind of in the back of the shoulder. Really uncomfortable if I lay on it. :(

This happened to me too, I think it's gas.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
