My heating pad was my best friend post-op, helped with the gas pains tremendously. This thread has been posted in the past and has many posts, just enter it in search for more info about what to take with you. Good luck!

For me it wasn't about the hospital but be prepared at home. You won't feel lik shopping and can't lift anything heavy so make sure you are stocked up for all the food stages.

Robe

Slippers

hair tie

Chapstick

Deodorant

Clean socks and underwear

iPad

Cell phone

Word find book and pen

Tooth brush and tooth paste

Gas x strips

I wore home the clothes I wore to the hospital. I was only in one night and even though I didn't sleep (too itchy from the Morphine) I didn't really feel like doing anything but lay there. I didn't shower before i left but if I had wanted too they had Shampoo and conditioner.

I took too much.

Things I needed:

  • robe & slippers for walking the hall (or they will provide you with a 2nd gown to wear backwards and lovely hospital footie socks)
  • chapstick/lip balm to fight the dry lips
  • comfy clothes for wearing home with shoes you don't have to tie
  • cell phone/charger
  • toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush & hair tie

things I didn't need:

  • kindle fire
  • book to read
  • toiletries to shower (I wasn't up to it)

Wear LOOSE clothes there and then just wear those home. I wore a loose dress.

DOn't forget a small pillow (or a small bed pillow) to hold over your belly. I kept one on me for weeks. especially when i slept. And it helps in the car. I did alot of coughing after surgery and the pillow made a big difference. Best wishes!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
