My heating pad was my best friend post-op, helped with the gas pains tremendously. This thread has been posted in the past and has many posts, just enter it in search for more info about what to take with you. Good luck!

For me it wasn't about the hospital but be prepared at home. You won't feel lik shopping and can't lift anything heavy so make sure you are stocked up for all the food stages.

I'm one day post op a few things I brought was a robe slippers lip balm ipad phone and charger heating pad a throw blanket my pillow pet lol toothbrush and toothpaste mouth wash came in handy as we're not allowed anything by mouth day of surgery and needless to say mouth gets very dry I also brought shower products didn't know we're not allowed to bathe they won't even let me just wash my hair ugh a table top fan it's so hot in here and gas x strips I haven't had a problem with gas but many people do

Gas x strips!!!

Robe

Slippers

hair tie

Chapstick

Deodorant

Clean socks and underwear

iPad

Cell phone

Word find book and pen

Tooth brush and tooth paste

Gas x strips

I wore home the clothes I wore to the hospital. I was only in one night and even though I didn't sleep (too itchy from the Morphine) I didn't really feel like doing anything but lay there. I didn't shower before i left but if I had wanted too they had shampoo and conditioner.

I took too much.

Things I needed:

  • robe & slippers for walking the hall (or they will provide you with a 2nd gown to wear backwards and lovely hospital footie socks)
  • chapstick/lip balm to fight the dry lips
  • comfy clothes for wearing home with shoes you don't have to tie
  • cell phone/charger
  • toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush & hair tie

things I didn't need:

  • kindle fire
  • book to read
  • toiletries to shower (I wasn't up to it)

Wear LOOSE clothes there and then just wear those home. I wore a loose dress.

DOn't forget a small pillow (or a small bed pillow) to hold over your belly. I kept one on me for weeks. especially when i slept. And it helps in the car. I did alot of coughing after surgery and the pillow made a big difference. Best wishes!!
