I'm just over three months out and started having salad last week. During my last visit surgeon said I should be able to eat pretty much anything by now. I still play it safe and try new foods carefully. :)

I miss my salad so much and I am in my 5th week out. Can someone tell me why they do not want us to eat salads. Is it because of the lack of Protein in it or for some other reason?

Believe it or not, lettuce is extremely hard on your digestive system. My pancreas was removed except for the head in 1993 and I have a really hard time with salads. Some may be able to tolerate it but not many I know of. I can do iceberg pretty well now but romaine is still a problem.

Is salad a forever problem?

I saw my surgeon and asked him about salads and veggies. I told him how much I miss them. So he tells that I should eat my protein first then I could try some salad or steamed veggies. He also said,"You won't be able to eat much because you should've eaten your protein." Well he was right but let me tell you that little bit of salad was so DELICIOUS. on my next meal I made my husband a side of steam veggies and I was in heaven. Advice is chew both very well and you can only eat a tiny amount but it is worth it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
