I've heard of bringing a heating pad to the hospital. Has anyone used one and has it helped.

I took one, but I didn't use it. My friend did for her bursitis. Gas-x strips helped a lot.

Yes the heating pad helps wonderfully with abd discomfort and dispelling the gas, but most hospitals won't let you use one while your there; safety issues. I know because I am a nurse.

I used mine in Mexico and I was so grateful for it! I put it on my chest and lower back to help get rid of the gas build-up. At home my back would get sore from lying down so much and it helped a lot.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but couldn't a heating pad promote infection and/or slower healing? Maybe I'm in the minority here, but take the painkillers while you have the excuse.

I don't know about infection, but I do know that the heating pad helped me immensely with gas pain. I had a lot of pain in my shoulder. I used the heating pad there- not so much on the stomach. I agree about the painkillers- if u could use them without side effects (too much nausea and dizziness) DO IT.

I used the heating pad NON STOP for the first four weeks- I had one on my couch- chair- car- bed- and I still use one every once in a while in each place. I never had a bit if infection or any of that business.

That heating pad saved me so many times!

I used it for surgery pain, back pain from having to sleep on my back- I'm a tummy sleeper. As well I use it now for back pain. I lost my weight very quickly and my body is taking its time adjusting, so like I said, I still use the heating pads! I use them to WARM up now because I'm freezing all the time :)

Happy losing everyone :)

I'm using my electric blanket right now and it feels soooo good. Cozy and warm :)

I should have thought of this right after surgery. My back and shoulders hurt a lot after surgery.

I used a hot water bottle. The heat soothed the discomfort from surgery and the pressure of it helped the gas

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
