I am post op 1 week and when I go for my 1st post op visit to see my surgeon on Thursday, he told me he will start me on Actigall. That's a med to help prevent gallstone formation in people losing weight rapidly.
Yes the heating pad helps wonderfully with abd discomfort and dispelling the gas, but most hospitals won't let you use one while your there; safety issues. I know because I am a nurse.
Drove myself to WalMart PO day 3 to pick up a few things. It sounded like a good idea until I got there. I tired so easily and felt woozy.Good thing I had my water with me. I had to sit a few minutes in the car before I attempted to drive home. A word to the wise, take your time, don't rush anything. Lesson learned1
You most definitely should stay overnight in the hospital.Just coming out of the anesthesia is a kicker, not to mention the pain meds that make you feel weird. I have a physical job, I am a nurse in ambulatory surgery/recovery room.I took 3 weeks, but surgeon said no pushing or lifting anything over 25 LBS, so It may be longer.I have the sick time, so if I need longer I will take it.
I was also sleeved Monday.I am feeling a little better today, still very sore in some spots.I did manage to do some light house work and took about a 1/2 mile walk. I also had a hiatal hernia repair done at the same time so my issue is trying to get my fluids in.It seems fluids want to stick in my chest first and then work their way down. So far today I only took one dose of liquid Tylenol for pain and a Maylox for the gas.
I am also post day3. Pain is manageable, but the gurgling is driving me mad! LOL I also had a hiatal hernia repair and seems to be what is most uncomfortable.
I too. will be having surgey tomorrow. I am scared, but excited too. This has been a journey and I hope it only gets better from here. Good luck tomorrow, and my prayers are with you.
