I am 3 months out of surgery and one thing I really truly miss is bread. Every time I eat it I get sick so I don't eat it. Anyone else have this problem? My NUT did say not to eat it just yet but I am curious how it is for all of you.

Thank!

bread sits too heavy on my sleeve for me to eat much of it. I'm over a year post-op and I basically don't eat bread anymore.

I can eat toasted bread. I do whole wheat (like a piece with an egg occasionally). Also crackers of some sort. I have had a tiny piece of the end crusty part of Italian type bread/rolls.

What do you mean by sick?

I am 9 weeks out and just had meat sauce with Pasta with a small piece of bread and felt great!

I can have bread and it doesn't bother me. I try to keep my carbs at a low. If I do want a sandwich once in a while, I'll toast an Arnold Select Sandwich Thin. That's more than enough for me.

I am 3 weeks out and my doc says no bread.... toast but no bread. Whole grain is better than white.

I haven't tried bread. I hear tell that once you eat breads that there is a never ending craving after that. At least according to my family (sister and 2 nieces have RNY).

I have always said that I am allergic to bread... I break out in fat! So I am trying to put breads off until I hit goal, which is a ways away.

I had surgery on 9/10 and I just had a piece of pumpkin streusel bread from Target (toasted) tonight. I have been craving pumpkin so I caved - I can still feel it "sitting' in my stomach. I am regretting my choice. Luckily, I have loads of people at work who will love this bread!

toasting that kind of bread is not going to result in enough moisture removed to make it comfortable for most new sleeves. to get that level of moisture you add a lot...let me stress that A LOT of oil and those bakeries use the cheap stuff. that and the swelling of the soft bread is likely what has caused your pain.

you could however make a crustless pumpkin pie or little custards (low fat recipes are all over the net) that would be healthy and likely not bother your tummy at all :)

I get stomached pains and a heavy feeling and then vomit. I just hope that one day I can have some bread, nothing like the past but I would like something. If not then oh well but I was more curious how other people reacted to bread.

Thanks for all the responses!

My Nut would LOVE to get me to eat more bread/grains in general, but I don't eat wheat anymore, and also try to limit my indigestible Fiber. For me this is the best approach to my troublesome digestive system. ;) That said, before I quit eating grains/wheat, I could eat bread okaaaayyy, but not great -- better when very toasted. Crackers and Pasta, no problems.

I'm hispanic and grew up with tortillas and all the mexican dishes. I still crave carbs, but i am tracking and very conscious of how much i consume. :D

I loved eating breads, muffins, Cookies, crackers, pita chips--heck they are what got me to the sleeve in the first place. I think because I keep my carbs limited to skim milk, fruits and some veggies that my cravings are almost non-existent. I want to keep it that way because I know I was a carb-addict.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
