First Day Of Liquid Diet Is Over And...

Recommended Posts

I did OK except I ate 2 Beans (not spoonfuls, just 2 individual beans) while making my daughter's dinner... I'm not too upset about it. But tonight when I was writing an essay for a class I kept thinking "I'm hungry.i should go make a sandwich". Instead I had Jello...bLeh

Tomorrow I'm adding some spices to my chicken broth. Tired of sweet, pudding consistency shakes...

Today is my day two. I am on shakes for 2 weeks. I seriously thought I was going to die yesterday. I ate a reduced fat string cheese stick and half of a chicken breast. I figured good Protein was better than whatever else I would eat. Today has been better but its hard! Good luck to you and keep the faith. Its hard but just think of the results we are going to have.

Hey I'm scheduled for the 22nd too! As the days go by it does get easier but man was that first day rough. I get hungry throughout the day so I started sipping throughout the day on Protein Shakes rather than drinking it all at once, that has been a huge help and keeps me not so hungry throughout the day! Keep me posted on how you're doing, surgery buddy! :)

I start my liquid diet next Wednesday. I'm more nervous about it than I am the surgery or the liquids after surgery. I know its possible - last year I couldn't eat solid foods - every time I would I would have some sort of painful "attack" in my upper abdomen and I literally got scared to eat solid foods. I had to sip down slim fasts & other nutritional shakes but if I drank them too quickly I'd have an attack. So I only got down about 2 shakes a day and I was lucky if I got 500 calories per day. So I know its very possible to do - I almost wish I was scared to eat solid foods again though - because it wasn't that hard to just have liquids when I was scared to eat the solid foods. On the bright side - I lost about 20 pounds in those 2 weeks. :D

I have no energy and an awful headache! I wonder when this will pass. I seriously cant believe that my doctor wants me to do 2 weeks worth of shakes ONLY... Im fat because I can't say no to food... how do they expect me to succeed? A guy I work with had this surgery and didnt even have a pre op diet (different doc) and weighs at least 100 pounds more than I do... Anyway enough complaining... I am so hungry...

By the 4th day, the headaches clear and the fogginess lifts. I had a hard time concentrating those 1st few days. It does get easier. Just remember, if you DO cheat, try to pick something that is high Protein and low carb, no or low sugar too. I did cheat some...ate weight watchers string cheese a couple of times and some chicken breast strips (grilled). Dr. V said my liver was small and surgery was easy on me so it looked like I had followed the rules ;)

Today was day 1 of my two week pre-op diet. Surgery is scheduled for the 31st. I did ok. I didn't "cheat". I had 2 shakes, a few bites of Soup, a Jello, a pudding and a yogurt. I've been trying to make an effort at taking small sips to practice and get in the habit. It's the end of the day and I feel better than I thought. The head ache is there but not anything I can't handle. I'm tired but not as hungry as I'd imagined. I'm calling it an extra early night and considering day 1 a success.

Best of luck to each of you. I'll have you in my thoughts and prayers!

Not sure about your docs, but mine said if you can't sip it through a straw, it is not liquid. So I couldn't have the pudding or yogart. Just something you might want to ask your doc ;)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
