After stalking this forum I have decided to join! So hello everyone! I have my final appointment coming up Feb 22nd. My doctor said I will receive a surgery date at that time.. very nervous. I reside in PA. Will be having my surgery in NJ by Dr. Noyan. Would like to speak with others whom have had their surgery performed by him. How was he? Bedside manner? Recovery? Leaks? Thank you in Advance! dde0a

I had Prokurat but Noyan assisted throughout everything. Both wonderful!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Noyan did my surgery 10/11/12. Everything has gone wonderfully for me. He is such a kind, down-to-earth man. Follow up appointments with him are very encouraging as well. You can tell he really cares about his patients being successful. I would definitely recommend him and the rest of his team. Good luck!

I was also sleeved by Dr. Noyan. My mother works for a local hospital, where her friend does quality ratings for doctors. My mother was nervous because her friend said she didn't hear good things. But my mom actually told me last night that her friend asked about me, and her friend had said his ratings were going up and she's hearing good things.

Personally, loved Dr. Noyan. My recovery was 2 nights, and discharged the third morning at RWJ. I had vomiting after they tried giving me liquid tylenol. Dr. Noyan comes to visit you and let's you know if he thinks you should stay another day. I received excellent care through him, and I was worried about a leak because of the vomiting. He assured me that everything would be okay with the staple line. I'm almost 9 weeks post op, and I haven't had problems with my sleeve. My recovery was easy, and I've only had nausea maybe twice my whole journey.

Also, I can't remember the name for a required test, but it's for pulmonary/breathing. I had Dr. Pacia from the list of recommended doctors he gives you. Dr. Pacia was so nice in the hospital! I was surprised he was there. I had no idea he was there to check up on my lungs the morning of the barium swallow. All the nurses love him, and he gives excellent care.

Dr. Noyan is really understanding, and any questions you have, he's able to help answer them. However, I don't know if they've replaced their nutritionist yet. My next appointment is not until March.

Best of luck!

As far as the nutritionist I was there about two weeks ago and there was no nutritionist yet. I am sure they are looking and hopefully have or will shortly have a new one in place. The nurse that I spoke to when I came for my initial appointment last May was there so maybe she is filling in some on the nutrition end of things. I didn't see her, though.

Thanks SueJersey for providing me with so much information ;) I have been looking into Dr.Noyan for a while and was totally out of it when I found out someone passed as a result of the surgery with him years ago. I questioned him about it and he was very forthcoming and honest. He stated just like any other surgery there are risk and some patients increase their risk when they do not follow the recommended after care such as no excessive drinking or smoking and ect. What I found out online was actually written by the deceased family member and very misleading. Apparently the patient that passed had many other underlying health issues and her passing was not directly from the surgery. Your post SueJersey in the beginning had me nervous but very reassuring at the end ;) I realized that there are risks but for me the pros outweight the cons and I need this surgery to have a longer abd healthier life. At the age of 28 I already have high bp, sleep apnea and a family history that includes obesity and heart disease.

I do have to a psychology evaluation. So far I have found prices of $350&$250! I have Aetna whom does not cover this.. Did you SueJersey pay this or does anyone know of a psychologist whom may be less expensive?

I also have Aetna but all plans are different. I saw a quack, sorry that's what he was Theodore Batlas (not sure if I spelled his name right). This is going to sound strange, but the whole time I talked to him he was sniffing his fingers LOL! (He needed the shrink, I think). For me it was just a formality as I have OCD and have seen a psychiatrist and counselors many times over the years so I wasn't concerned about the psychological side of things. I honestly don't remember how much it was but I want to say it was $150 maybe? I can't remember but I think he was in Freehold. HTH

And again, I can't say enough about Dr. Noyan. He really does care about his patients, I can tell whenever I see him, just by the way he listens and encourages. And my surgery went just great. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
