I was in shock. I am curious if it will keep up with pureed food in the mix now. I've been on just fluids and talking all the time. First time in 5 years I'm below 300 lbs

Preposterous (not meant for you, but whoever told you about the addiction thing). The standard of care is, don't ignore the pain, get ahead of it and use of high dose narcotics for post surgical pain in the short run, results in less need ,if any in the long run. If it is poorly treated pain, with minimal narcotics, that often cause long term addiction. Lortab is vicodan, probably a more abused drug that Dilaudid

I'm finding it easier to get in my fluids and it's not taking me hours to drink drink 1 cup of Water. All the glue in my belly button is starting to get flaky and I'm hoping next week the surgeon will remove it but I'm pretty sure it will fall out on its own before then. I've lost about 12 lbs from my highest but unfortunately I don't have a home scale and have to go by what the doc scale says.

One week post op!

So pleased- I have lost 7lbs since surgery date (on the 4th) and 9lbs from the 10 day pre op diet so in total that's 16lbs in almost as many days!!! Crazy!

Im also down 25lbs from my heaviest weight and feeling so pleased that I know I'll NEVER get that big again.

Healing fine, I have 5 incisions and they all look good, managing to sleep on my side and pain is minimal. My only question is how long will we keep burping gas? It's very off putting that I have to burp after every sip I swallow and gurgle like crazy- surely this settles down?

5am- got really uncomfortable!!the gas seems to be trapped in my belly and won't come out, it's actually bothering me to drink. I tried to walk again and nothing! Gonna lay back down and get pain meds!

I was sleeved on 10/8 and am feeling pretty well. I have found it easy to keep the gas pains away by taking two Prevacids a day -one early in the morning around 5 am and the second in the evening after dinner around 7 pm. I have five incisions on my stomach and still have a drain. I think the drain is coming out today (Thursday), I hope so because it is really inconvenient to have that thing swinging around when I walk or am in bed.

I am having no problem drinking. The trick is to take tiny minuscule sips. I drink like my pet cat does -barely wetting my tongue. I made the mistake of taking a regular sip and won't do that again-it felt like I swallowed a golf ball and for about five minutes afterwards I could feel that sip as it worked its way through my narrow sleeve. I can handle drinking Water okay, but seem to do better with flavored waters for some reason. Propel zeros are good but I love the crystal light peach ice tea! I have a 32 bougie, it has a diameter that is roughly the size of a "fine point sharpie marker."

I haven't eaten anything other than chicken broth and can only handle about 5Tbs of broth every five minutes or so. I feel zero hunger. None. It's kind of strange especially since I did magnesium citrate last Saturday, which completely cleaned me out. I fasted last Sunday in preparation for my surgery this past Monday and have been only taking in fluids and broth since surgery. I am taking in less than 300 calories per day and really feel none the less for wear. My Doctor wants me on clears for a full week before I get to start in on my full fluids. At that time I'll introduce some Protein shakes into my diet.

I look like I was the loser in a boxing match - my stomach is bruised and the incision scabs are black... But everything is healing up nicely. I stopped taking all pain medication on Tuesday, the day after my surgery, and don't need them at all.

My recommendations are to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk.... And definitely get on top of and stay on top of the stomach acid. The pressure and gurgling that some people are attributing to gas pains could really be the result of your stomach being full of acid.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
