How did you know you had a leak? Did it do any serious internal damage?

Congradulations to you! Size 6 is tiny!

So for me:

Surgery went ok.

My Mom died a week later. She did not know I had the surgery.

I flew home, cried and barely drank anything much less eat. Flew home because I was very, very ill. Complications set in on the fight home. They persisted for weeks and were more serious than I even admitted here.

Slowly healed, mentally between my Mom (which would be enough) and the fact that I can't seem to "see" my size (I have been asked to point my body size out, and I select people size 18-20 ish) it has been a struggle but I get through, and I do so much more than that, it is not just a dicotomy, it is my most epic time yet. As Billy would have said "this is my time on the edge".

Back into biking, yoga, acro-yoga, swordsmanship, LARPing, Swimming, Archery, contact juggling, devil sticks, climbing trees, spelunking - and seeing the look on one of my best friends face as she handed me a tshirt from her vacation "medium" it said on the collar - and it fit.

Nine months, wow, I wonder what it will be like this time next year...

I'm glad to hear you guys have had success with your surgeries, but I'm quite frustrated with my sleeve surgery outcome. I had my surgery April 24, 2012 and have only lost 41 lbs. This recent month that just passed I only lost 5 lbs. and I'm killing myself with keeping the diet and exercising. A couple years ago when I use to diet and exercise I would be able to drop 15 to 20 lbs like nothing in a month and I feel that now that I've had the surgery I should be able to drop weight quicker, but it's not happening for me. Do you guys think there's is something wrong with me? My brother had the same surgery I did and in 5 months had dropped 125 lbs. I don't know why my goal seems to stay stuck.

I have heard a lot of people say its about the weight and BMI - people with a lower weight and BMI seem to loose less at the start ? I am 60 lbs lost and had my surgery July 19th. But some of the girls with me have only lost 30 or so but were much smaller than I was

I have only lost about 70 post op. But I went from a size 26-24 to a size 14. Body types and experiences vary. Don't push yourself.

The important thing is you hav a tool to not just lose but MAINTAIN what you lose. If you only lose 3 lbs a month, you will have lost an additional 36 lbs in a year, and keep it off...

Good luck, I think you are doing well.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
