I Hate It When People Misuse "literally"!

Recommended Posts

My biggest irk must be from the patients I help at "the clinic" . . . most are under insured or from very low socioeconomic backgrounds. . many of them have been arrested or come to the clinic in shankles accompanied by their guards who carry guns' date=' billyclubs, etc. . . when these patients come in, they don't see me as their caregiver, they see me as "Miss" . . . it's "Miss" this and "Miss" that. . . don't they see I'm a older woman with a ring on my left hand? Being from the deep south (SA TX) the word Ma'am is much more respectable then the dreaded "Miss". . . . . I understand they probably don't know better, but it's just a irk on my part. . . thanks for listening. . .[/quote']

Being from the Pacific Northwest, I would love to be called miss! Sounds better than dude!!!

I'm from the south, and there is usually a "hold my beer" mixed in there as well.

I can't stand "should have went" or "has went" instead of "should have gone" or "has gone." I don't know why this has become so common. There is one person at work that does this all day long and it drives me crazy! Have/has/had do NOT go with went.

I have a manager at my workplace who says "kindigarden" instead of kindergarten. She also misuses words, e.g. exterminating circumstances instead of extenuating circumstances. It makes it impossible to respect her.

I'm in Southern Indiana (redneck haven) and something that drives me batty is when people say "ideal" instead of "idea."

Also when "can't" is pronounced "caint."

But my FAVORITE thing I've learned from my very southern family is this: nothing is insulting if it's started or ended with "bless his heart..."

Here's some rural southern vernacular that drives me batty. Look..."mirlk" is on sale 2.50/gallon! WTH...it's milk for goodness sake...I can't stand the use of the letter "r" in words that it does not belong!!!! And BTW.....spaghetti is not a freaking vegetable side dish!!!!!!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
