My Fellow 9/4 (Or Last Week) Sleevers - How Are You Doing ?

Recommended Posts

So I had my surgery 9/7. I lost 20 pre op and 27 so far since surgery. I've been naughty and have eaten things I shouldn't, but I always make sure to chew it up good. I'm going to get back on track hopefully tomorrow. I have been tracking on myfitnesspal. I need to get more Water in, I hear that's the trick to loosing weight faster. I've been walking, but I hope to be going to they soon. Keep keeping on ladies!!

Hello fellow 9/4 sleeve sisters. I have lost 17 since surgery, a total of 25 including the week of pre op. Feeling good, no complaints other than I wish I could be one of those 15 lbs in a week people. I have been a yoyo dieter all my life, and never even during the craziest made up diets of my youth did I ever lose close to 15 in a week. Pretty happy with my 25 off though :)

I was sleeved on 9/11. Started soft foods today. My dinner was Tilapia and steamed zuccini. It was fabulous!! I feel great. Get a little tired after feeding goats or doing "harder" chores like laundry and sweeping. I feel like I burp alot but otherwise doing well. I get my protien in with no problems and am up to 48 ounces of liquid a day. Hitting 64 oz is hard.... I mix my vanilla protien with orange juice in the morning and then I drink a costco premier protien in the afternoon when I take my Iron pill. Love my no caffine tea at night and try to get in Water and watered down tang during the day. I can't handle anything too sweet. Love the boxed organic Tomato Soup and my magic bullet SF puddings and creaming things. My incisions are almost healed. I am down 31 pounds since surgery and 61 since pre-op diet. I weigh in on tuesdays and LOVE watching the numbers go down knowing I will never see those numbers again. I occasionaly get a brain craving for a french fry or pizza but for the most part I am doing fine with my broths, Soups, Jello, yogurt, protiens, cream of wheat and now fish....:) My back is hardly sore at all. I had surgery on it in February and felt the doctor did not fix me. He told me he fixed the hernia and the buldge and I would feel better if I lost the weight. Well...61 pounds later and I am thinking in another three weeks I will be able to clean my barn by myself with no problems. I can't wait! Right now I just hang out in the barn..started doing the grain but still can't lift the buckets and the hay...but soon!!!! Love reading everyones posts..Thank you for sharing your experiences!

I am doing good. I had my post op appt today and he said everything looks good.. I really have nothing to complain about...i have had no heartburn' date=' no nausea, no vomiting and no hunger. I was never in pain..just sore and i stopped taking pain meds on Sunday/Monday. I was cleared to start full liquids today thank god because i was crying last night as nothing i was "eating" was satisfying me anymore. So i added greek yogurt and SF pudding today. I am down 9 lbs and a total of 33 with pre-op. I sometimes feel like i am bragging on here but i guess not everyone has issues ....sorry. I am glad that everyone is doing good though now. :)[/quote']

Not bragging! Inspirational!

I add SF syrups to my shakes. English toffee and caramel are my favorites!

I also add PB2 (powdered peanut butter) to my chocolate shakes. They are the best!!! (caramel in that one)

I also add SF pudding like pistacio or cheesecake. Maybe a little crystal lite.

Mix it up a bit so you get a variety! They are not so bad when you spice them up a bit :)

Great suggestions!

How's everyone doing? I've been stalling and gaining. I've also noticed its getting harder to eat. It gets to the point were I don't even care about food anymore. Drinking is fine. I'm only down 31 lb since 9/5. I've been stuck there give or take a couple lbs for 3 weeks. I'm down 48lb since my highest. I exercise 6 days a week, don't know how I'm getting the energy. I only eat about 600-700 cal a day. My hair is fine so far I was afraid to say that. I hope it doesn't start now. Would love to hear about sleevers on or around my date.

I am down 38 since surg on 9-6. 58 since my highest. I just started to shed hair but I have enough hair for 10 people so I'm not too worried.

I have been approved to eat anything. I always eat my Protein first and get about 800-900 calories a day. Usually 60-70g of Protein. Some days I feel hungry. On those days I grab some protein and feel much better.

I exercise 3-4 days a week. My hip has been bothering me. Odd that it would start after losing 50 pounds!

I feel fabulous! So many things are much easier. Loving my sleeve!!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
