October 2006 Bandsters!

Calling all October bandsters...

I just wanted to start a thread where everyone can post their surgery dates and we can compare notes.

I am scheduled for 10/18. I have ALL my pre-op stuff done as of last week. I start Protein shake diet on 10/4. :)

How is everyone else doing getting their pre-op stuff scheduled?

Hey gang! I'm not quite 10 hrs old. I know I had it done because I'm pretty sore but it is still so hard to believe it's real. :omg: Just wanted to say a quick hello and thank everyone on this board for the continual support you all show to the bandits (old and new). Gonna go try to figure out how to get comfy. I actually seem to do better standing, sitting or walking. I would really love a nap though ,:notagree slept maybe an hour last night and only about an hour this afternoon. I must say, it is quite strange to want this so badly then all of a sudden poof!- you got it!!! Got there at 6am this morning and by 10:15 am, I was on my way back home! I guess it will just take time for it to sink in. I do believe I am rambling...pain meds must be better than they appear. I could just keep on with nothing but my own senseless chatter. Have a great evening and good luck to the rest of you...:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Wow! Reading your posts right after actually having it done is getting me really excited! Im so happy for you and really appreciate you getting on to post to keep us updated. I wish you both well and cheers to great new start!

To Be Banded

Oct.10

Dr. de la Garza:clap2:

ok everyone!

I am starting to pack! I am hoping that I am taking all of the right stuff. Getting nervous, but I am ever so ready. We have just made the salsa for the competition so that is out of my way. I am gathering all of the papers I need and now I am just waiting for Friday. I hope I am losing weight, I am not sure if I will lose enough I am very worried about that. I am doing what I am suppose to so I guess we will see when I get there. Don't know what I will do if they send me away! Well, the next time I post will probably be when I get back. best of luck and talk soon. Thank you everyone for all of the great info, and support!

Congrats kayleesmom! I agree - it is very surreal. I stayed overnight in the hospital and would have loved to have spent a second night. That morphine pump was great! haha. But it's great to be home as well. Best of wishes for a speedy recovery!

What is everyones goal by Jan 1st 2007???????????????

My realistic goal is to lose at least 20 pounds and make it into twoterville. But I'm really hoping to lose a good 30 pounds by then.

:clap2: Hello to all. I am two days out and feeling really good right now. The pain is minimal. Never thought I would say this yesterday when the pain seemed to be at it's worst. I think the air inside hurts worse than the actual little incisions. I am having a little trouble getting all my proteins in, but I think it will get better each day. There is only so much cream of wheat, yogurt and protein shakes one can handle. I am gonna try strained cream of mushroom soup for dinner. Yumm!!! All in all, I am quite happy that I made the decision to have the banding done and am looking forward to a whole new life. Good luck to all those who are about to go on this journey and to those who have just started.

Congrats kayleesmom! :clap2:

Good luck kilcollins and everyone else that will be banded this week!

You all are getting me SO excited and are an inspiration!

Hi Shellybeans! I am so glad to hear you are doing well! Congratulations!!! Keep up the good work!

I will be banded on October 19th and I too am eating more than usual. I guess I have the Last Supper Syndrome. On October 12 I begin the liquid diet. I am nervous and excited to ge the process started.

I am getting banded by Dr. Geiss on Long Island. Anyone else out there sharing a hospital bed next to me?

Congrats Shellybeans and Kayleesmom! :cheer2: I'm so glad that all went well for you both. Keep us updated on how you are doing when you feel up to it!

Would you recommend staying the night in the hospital rather than going home the day of the procedure? My insurance said they would pay for it if the Dr. recommended it. I'm just wondering if it would make any difference?

Personally I would recommend staying the night. It was all I could do to keep myself awake that first night, and I think the pain can be managed better in the hospital. Besides the fact that I had a cathedar, and then had to go for flurospcopy the next morning to make sure everything looked ok. It wasn't until after this went ok that I was allowed to start drinking water. I was so comfortable in the hospital, I would have stayed another night if I could have. Funny, huh?!

Hi Denise2

I am being banded in MA so we won't share a room. We are both having our surgery on the same data and we both are starting at the same weight! Weird huh.

I hope we can keep in touch and support each other through this journey. I start my pre-op in 5 days, yikes!!!!!!!
