    October 2006 Bandsters!

Turner I feel like you. I have only lost 33 pounds and I go to the gym 6 days a week. It sucks! But it will eventually come off. I'm trying to visualize myself a year from now. What is this magic muscle milk? Does it help speed things up. Tell me more.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I have been lurking and reading all the inspirational thoughts and enjoying the laughs. Here I am 1.5 pounds away from 'Onderland" and can't seem to make it happen. I go to the gym 6 days a week. I had a big superbowl party and didn't do bad that day but the next day I did indulge with all the leftovers. My DH just went to the doctors for a check -up and found out that his colesterol is high. My DH has always been thin and never had to worry about what he was eating and me on the other hand it has been a lifelong battle. Now he needs to eat just like Me! This is going to make dinner time a lot easier in my house. My husband is italian and loves to eat sausage, cheese, fried chicken cutlets, etc. and I would just eat my banster foods while I watch him chow down. All in all I do feel bad for him because I know how hard it is to restrict ones self. But that is life. The most important thing is that we are both healthy for ourselves and our children. Off to the gym....

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well, I just came back from Atlantic City this weekend and gained 1.5 pounds...all from drinking too much alcohol. But the good news is today is Wednesday and I lost three pounds since Sunday so I am back down. I've been working my ass at the gym and really strict with my eating. I did my first spin class at the gym today and made it through!!!! I'm finally on the up swing of my journey. Three more pounds till I hit Onerville.

I had Dr. Geiss do my band but I didn't pay out of pocket. My insurance paid for it. The insurance papers said that it cost them 23,000.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I am trying to stay positive. I am greedy and want more weight loss. I had one fill but I can still eat anything I want. So much of it right now is pure willpower. I am still at a weight loss of 26 lbs. and I go to the gym 5-6 days a week. I feel like going back to liquids for a week just to drop some weight. I see my doctor on Jan. 4th. If I lost 5 more pounds by the time I saw him I would feel like a winner. When I left his office he said that the next time I see you I know you will break the 200lb mark. So I set that as my goal and I feel like I'm falling short not only for him but most of all myself.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

ThreeBeauties: Its funny because I tend to read more posts from you and the others that have been banded on our same date. First, the doc gave me a shot of Lidocaine which was not any worse than having blood drawn ( and I am definitely not a fan of that). Then he put the other needle with the saline in and I felt nothing. It was all over. I am now on full liquids for 24 to 48 hours. I had split pea soup for dinner and later on some yogurt. I feel o.k. so far. I am a little nervous because now that I some restriction I don't want to get anything caught and have a PB. I will let you know how I feel the next week...more to come. But let me congratulate you on your awesome weight lose. Thirty pounds is a lot. Be proud!!!!!!! Your hard work paid off.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Happy Tuesday!! Yes I got my first fill. Not a bad experience. I am so excited that now I will finally feel full quickly and loose some more wieght. My doctor was so great about speaking with me regarding taking full advantage of the band and how much I have been through (surgery which is always a possiblity of dangerous events occurring) and where I will be physcially in 5 months if I do the right thing. These words stuck in my mind " Just don't forget to respect your band, you now have what it takes."

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Tomorrow I go for my first fill. I can't wait because I am stuck at a weight lose of 20lbs. I feel like I am eating more than I should. My portion control needs to be much smaller but I am hungry. So hopefully tomorrow will be a push in the right direction. I am still going to the gym at least 4-5 times a week.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the bansters out there...Enjoy your family and friends and a small portion of food and know that tomorrow when you wake up the you won't feel like you gained 10 lbs. The holiday will have passed and gone and our goal of health was not sabotaged. Be strong and be for yourself first.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Well, I finally committed myself to a gym to workout. I have been walking on my treadmill at home but today was the first day I did cardio for 50 minutes and lifted weights for 1/2 hour. I feel better already. I have been down in the dumps because I haven't been losing wieght for the last 2 weeks.

    Just Banded!!!

Being as busy as you are can be a blessing. Your world will no longer be centered around food and where you can go to get ice cream and all you can eat buffets. After you get into a routine of the foods you can eat and what you can tolerate and enjoy and the pounds come off you will be full of energy and life. This is the beigning of your journey. Remember... even thin people think about what they should eat to maintain their weight and deny themselves certain high fat foods. They are not thin because thay don't watch what they eat. Stay the course..

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I am up for the 10 pound holiday challenge. I would love to loose 10 pounds by Christmas. I have my first fill on November 28th and I have been working hard at walking on the treadmill at least 5 times a week. I feel like my scale is broken because it hasn't moved. I bought another one. Let's see what happens.

Thank you Nanette!! Your words of encouragement went a long way. It feels good to know someone is out there for me at my darkest times. I think that I do need to remember that I am in the healing stage. Your words are keeping me going. Many thanks.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

:omg: I'm feeling discouraged today. I have lost about 19 pounds since the pre-op diet till today. But I am so stuck. I see the scale go up 1pound and down 1 pound. I am keeping a diary of everything I eat. I have not cheated and eaten anything I am not supposed to. I watch portion size and even measure. I have been walking 4-5 times a week!!!!!!! What is going on!!!! I feel hungry in between meals but I don't allow myself anything because I don't want to sabatoge all that I have done to get where I am. I am right now on soft foods. Maybe I need to speak with my nutritionist. I have not had a fill yet. I have an appointment 11/28. I am hoping its because my monthly cycle is coming and holding onto extra water weight.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I can eat more than a 1/2 cup of soup. I usually have lentil or tomato soup. I have not had a fill yet. Remember that if you are eating thin, liuqidy soups it goes right through the band. Chunky soups will tend to make you feel more full.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I was banded on October 19th and my first fill will be Novemeber 28th. I'm nervous. Right now I can eat my mushy food with no problems...Afterwards it might be different. The jounery goes on...

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I am currently on mushy/soft foods and following the diet plan from my nutriionist very closely. I'm afraid to PB. I have a friend who got a fill and she PBs on ice tea. I think she is going back for a unfill. At this point I have six small meals a day( TBsp. of lowfat peanutbutter & 1/2 banana) or maybe 2oz. cottage cheese with 2TBSP peaches). So far I lost 17.5 pounds but now I find myself looking at the clock and waiting for 2 1/2 hours to pass so I can eat again. Yes I am hungery in between meals. I go back to the doctor on Novemeber 28 (maybe a fill). But I too want slow and steady.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I was banded 10/19 and I am finally feeling more comfortable. Last night was the first night I slept in my BED! Before that I was to sore and was not able to get out of bed with out a lot of discomfort. I was sleeping in the den on a recliner. As far as the eating is going I'm doing OK on liquids. The medifast drinks fill me up. I have not had any real hunger yet. I have one more week of liquids. I am now down about 13 pounds!!! I feel good that I had the courage to do something like this for me. I thank all of the Lap members who share their thoughts and experiences.

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hello October Bandsters! I had my surgery on October 19th at 11:00am. I came home from the hospital yesterday (overnight stay). The only spot I feel discomfort is at the port sight. I feel real full. I think it must be gas. I can sip a little juice and thats it. Yesterday I was on clear liquids and I have no desire to have anything more than that today. Is that normal? I do get to shower today, Yipee! I haven't weighed myself yet to see how much I lost between the pre-op diet and now. Good luck to all the next bandsters.
