    Congratulations! You're looking great!
  2. Sorry to be so blunt about this question but after reading about people dying following other types of WLS, I'm now wondering how many people have died as a direct result of lapband surgery. My surgery is coming up soon and I'm starting to have doubts about the risks involved. Is there any data from other countries besides the US?
  3. I'm not banded yet so I'm wondering if feeling fullness feels the same after banding? I never feel full unless I've eaten massive amounts of food and then I just feel sort of sick and not able to eat another bite. Will this be the same after banding? I'm worried that if I don't recognize the signs of fullness pre-band, how will I recognize them with the band? I do realize I'll probably start PBing or something if miss the fullness signs - I just want to know that I'll recognize the warning signs before I ever get to that stage.
  4. Hi All, Anyone else getting banded this November? I'm scheduled for November 1! I've been lurking on this site for the past few weeks and I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about the lapband and what to expect after surgery. I'm wondering what I should be doing now, 6 weeks pre-op, to prepare for surgery and living with the band. I considered starting the liver-shrinking diet right away but I'm afraid I would fall off that plan before my surgery date. Maybe I should concentrate on increasing my exercise...cause as it is I'm not doing any LOL!

    Training for a triathlon...

I've registered for a try-a-tri this spring - going to use this as motivation to get my butt back in gear. This thread has been really helpful and inspiring!

    Weight Gain

I too got completely unfilled when I found out I was pregnant. I ended up gaining really fast - it was crazy! I think it played with my hormones and I ended up miscarrying. Next time, I'm leaving my fill in or just slightly unfilling. I don't think rapid weight gain can hurt the baby, but if you're someone who had heavy periods with lots of clotting, then I would be very cautious about gaining weight to quickly. I think it's all ties into the hormones.
  8. I can't see it but I can feel it if I press down on the area.
  9. I'm curious about all the different ways the band can feel temporarily tighter. I've experienced being tighter during periods of stress, while being sick and during the week before my TOM. I've read about getting tighter during flights and after intense exercise. Are there any other situations in which the band can feel temporarily tighter?

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Wow! Such inspiring success stories! You've all motivated me to change my next weight loss goal to something a little more ambitious than I was originally aiming for: 100 pounds lost by my 1 year bandiversary. I think I can do it!

    40 pounds out the WINDOW!!!!!

Congrats! We're almost at the same weight but I started out heavier. I need to start training too!
  12. I love my band today! But I do still have moments of frustration when I want to eat something I shouldn't and the band won't let me. I hate it in the moment but I love it the next day!

afraid to give away "fat clothes"????

Nope! I LOVE ditching the fat clothes now that I'm confident that I won't gain this weight back (like I've always done in the past).
  14. My fills are done about 1.5 inches below my port scar. Maybe your port is really tilted so he had to inject on a sharp angle?
  15. There should be another option - I gained weight during the first month. And the second. I didn't start losing until the fourth month.
  16. Wow - you're looking fantastic!

    Ottawa support group

Hi everyone, I hope you're all out enjoying this (slightly) warmer weather this week. I've started walking outside now that the roads are no longer skating rinks. I met a big goal today: I've lost 50 pounds. I've been banded for 8 months so I'm a fairly slow loser but at least the weight is coming off. I only really started losing weight 4 months after I was banded (after my 4th fill). In the beginning I was really discouraged by the slow weight loss but even at 1 pound per week, it does add up! So for all my fellow slow losers, don't give up!!!

    Crystal Light

I have a question - I'm addicted to Crystal Light Lemon-Lime and whenever I vacation in the States I can't find that flavor. Is it available outside of Canada?
  21. Wow you look awesome! You'd never guess from that after picture that you need plastic surgery. Thanks for sharing with us - it's very inspirational.

Are you suffering from reflux? I just don't get what the big deal is about giving fills to other doctor's patients. It's a fill - a simple procedure that a nurse could do. It's not rocket science! I don't understand why this simple procedure is not available freely? Does this apply to any other medical procedure?
