Had A Hiatal And Umbilical Hernia Done At The Same Time

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm crazy, but I had my doc fix both my Hiatal and Umbilical Hernia when getting sleeved. Anyone else have both these done?

That sounds painful! How are you doing? I had a hiatal hernia fixed at the same time, but from what I'm learning that is pretty common...

I can't believe how easy this has all been. The hiatal hurts a bit throughout the day - pressure for a few secs. My belly button is very sore and it hurst when I cough. That's it.

Wow! My road was a bit more rough, but finally at about 11 weeks out I can say I'm starting to feel a lot better. I still don't have the energy that I expected, but hopefully that will get better too. :)

I have an umbilical hernia that needs to be repaired, but my surgeon said to wait until later.

I do not know why.

From what I understand, the chances of the hernia re-tearing decrease after weightloss rather then during. My dr. said as long as it doesnt bother you, its better to wait.(Atleast in my case.) Basically, bigger tummy=more of chance it will re-tear/ smaller tummy= less chance it will re-tear. Hope this little bit of info helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. More I lose the bigger it looks, so I guess I am kind of anxious to get it done!

I had both done during my sleeve procedure. I felt great after and still do. I did not know I had the hernias so I was surprised when he told me he fixed them

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
