Macho Cheese Doritos

Don't know how to reply without getting flamed, so I'm just going to pray for you.

And on that note, it's time for the collection plate. Ahhhhhhhh-meeeeen.

I may get flamed, but whatever. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating a few Doritos now and then, if you can handle. Big IF.

The idea that you can't have anything bad ever again is unrealistic. I was craving a cheeseburger. Had a few bites of one last week, haven't thought about it since. Until now...mmm...cheeseburger...

But, I digress. Wait at least a few months before trying anything sharp like a Dorito.

Good luck.

Jr,

Just don't do it, not this early out.

Now is the time to learn new Eatting habits, after u hit goal then u can on occasion go off and eat some junk food.

The first six months you want to invest in weight loss and changing the habits that created our obesity.

Good luck, think positive and skinny thoughts

Oh darn...when I saw the title as "Macho cheese Doritos" I got a little excited. Hehe. I thought maybe there was a new brand of Doritos targeted specifically for men or something. Well, it was probably just the word "Macho" that got my attention, if I have to be completely honest.

I assume that "Macho" was a result of some predictive autocorrect situation.

But yes, I agree with those above that you should wait until you've developed solid healthful eating habits and follow your surgeon and nutritionists post-op food stage diet, etc. before you even think about eating junk food--you might find that you don't want those Doritos anymore after a while.

You should also consider WHY you want those Doritos...and what caused you to gain weight in the first place. Emotional eating, volume eating, etc...it's important to know what got you to the point of needing weight loss surgery. Discuss this with your nutritionist, VSG support group, or maybe even a counselor.

I just have to say, this is ridiculous! I see answers to questions like this one and it makes me really angry and disappointed. It is a simple question that does NOT ask for judgement like so many are dishing out. Sometimes we want a certain food- we are human! All I want right now is a pickle. It has no nutritional value but I don't care! If I could have 2 pickles right now, I would eat them, for breakfast! Not every day, just today- just right now!

Anyway, to answer your question, I am 3.5 weeks since surgery and my surgeon and dietician cleared me for "tacos" made with mini tortilla chips. Just make sure you chew chew chew!!!

has anybody had nacho cheese doritos and how far out were you

Most people are cleared for full foods somewhere between 4-8 weeks from surgery(Doritos would fall into this category) the staple line isn't considered fully healed till 6weeks post op, so I would at least wait till then.

Now that I have answered your "technical" question I would like to add

Carbs(white carbs)like chips trigger cravings. The more of them you eat, the more you want. So I strongly recommend stayin as far away from these as you can

If you just can't resist then I recommend you buy the smallest bag you can, chips are one of those things that just won't fill us up.

And most of all write your goals down this journey is so much easier with specific goals and timeframes. When you are pursuing a goal it's it's easy to say no to those garbage foods.

Abbybeep, pointing someone in a good direction is not "judging." The word is overused. There is nothing wrong with pointing out alternatives. Mine would be to wait 3 or 6 months (whatever his surgeon says about popcorn) and try air popped or stove popped popcorn (with a teeny bit of olive oil) with hot sauce sprinkled on it.

Stay away from all movie theater and microwave popcorn. Popcorn is better without the added fat and chemicals.

I assume you mean post-op? No, I haven't. Haven't wanted any. Sleeved or not, they're pretty gross. I'm about 5 months out.

Truly not to tease you for the typo, but I'm seriously sitting here with "Maw-cho maw-cho cheeeeeese" (to the tune of the Village People) stuck in my head. Thanks, because that's so awesome.

My second week out of surgery I was suffering so bad from head hunger and carb withdrawal. I licked the seasoning off 5 sun dried Tomato basil wheat thins but didn't eat the crackers. My God that was so good at the time, and it satisfied my cravings.

Best part was my dog got to eat the licked crackers. She was thrilled to get such a treat. She did a little labrador happy dance. I probably did that 2 or 3 different days until I started on soft foods. By then my cravings were gone.

Its all in your head in 2 weeks out and there not anything I haven't done. I have chewed my favorite foods and spit them out I have licked Doritos I have even tried to eat things I know could harm me are even kill me only being 2 weeks out.

But I'm here to tell you I promise it gets better the first 10 days was the hardest now my brain is getting on sync with my stomach. Sometimes you just have to do what you need to to overcome these obstacles. Not all of us can be hardcore never touch a starch and carbs the rest of our lives. The whole point is to still be able to eat but what you live but in little portions. I'm not saying eat chips every day but if you have a carving eat a couple to satisfy you. I do not believe that saying you never ever have something the rest of your life is realistic just don't make this a every day habit. Best of luck. Remember we all travel this journey different. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
