I'm a tall sleever! Im 5ft 11in. I was just sleeved on 8-21-12. I started out at 242 and I'm 216 today :), and rocking a size 16 ( yay me) my goal is 175. I haven't been in onederland since 7th grade. I can't wait to feel sexy and become more healthy. Oh and I'm apple shaped, I hope my shape evens out more once I start losing good!

Tall people rule! 6ft 4in and I started out at 314. When you see people start out at 220 it can make your goal seem all the more challenging. Good to see some other tall peeps on here.

LOL I do find it funny, yet rather... a little disheartening maybe... when I see some of the people on here talking about their highest weights being around 250lbs when that is my goal weight. But I take it in stride and remember that I'm a big dude.

Since people were sharing their stats here's mine:

Height... 6'5"

Weight... 442 (was 550 at my first WLS Consult last year)

Shirts... 5xl down from 9xl

Pants... 5xl down from 8xl

Shoes... 15 4E (always wore wide shoes, but may drop down to a 3E soon, current shoes seem to be getting a tad loose)

My unofficial goal is to get down to 235. That's what I weighed when I was 25, back when I was at my healthiest and I was forged steel and sex appeal with the body of a Greek God lol

Lol Nate. I think along with weight loss you need to work on your self esteem. I don't think it's high enough yet. Lol. Lmfao!!

Not a tall gal, but a tall guy at 6'4"... I have to say, being tall is great, and god bless all the tall ladies here :). MIght take a wee bit longer for the loss to show, but tall people tend to lose faster, from what I've read. So congrats ladies and gentlemen, and keep up the good work!

I think it is going to take awhile to be able to get down as much as they want you to. As long as you don't need an I'V then you are doing ok. Thanks for the encouragement:)

Two days out from surgery. Feeling kinda bad. Not interested in drinking anything except Water, and the Protein shakes that we're ok before surgery now don't taste so great! I just want to sleep.

Y'all feel free to check in with me by PM or on the FB tall board if you have questions or concerns--I'll try my best! :-) I feel like an "oldie" around here these days at 17 months out--and I'm ALMOST to my "final" goal weight!!!!! I kind of lurk around the 176-178 range most of the time, but I'm telling you, when I do finally get to that mysterious 175, I'm gonna be shouting!!

I am 5'10" and 291#. I wear a size 20 on most days and a size 12 shoe. My goal is 180#. When I was in the military, I was healthy and comfortable at 180#. I initially wanted the lap band because I figured less invasive and quicker recovery time. After learning the down time and seeing and reading results, my doctor convinced me the sleeve was the best route. I have hypothyroidism and I am concerned with slower weight loss. Any of y'all have thyroid disease?

Hi new tall friends... excited to find you all tonight to see I am not alone- as I sit here 5'10 and 254lbs - 55 pounds down from highest of 309. I was sleeved Aug. 1st so I am almost at 2 months out and 30lbs down since surgery. Size 11 shoes and would love them to shrink!

Started in Avenue jeans size 24 and now in same style jean size 18. Tops 2x-3x now XL - I drain from the top down... collar and neck bones appeared about 10 pounds ago and saw top 2 ribs for the first time this morning.

I feel like such a slow looser and expected the weight to come off faster because I am tall (higher weight to start). That has not been the case, but I am hoping for no hair loss and less skin sag because of it. I have had it easy no problems drinking or eating anything. Always been able to get in all suggested liquid and Protein. I plan to do an updated photo on Oct. 1st for my 2 month anniversary but here is one from 2 weeks ago

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
