  1. LOVE this drink!! I've been making it and seperating it into 4oz cups to have between meals. Yummy, rich, and decadant! Thanks for the post.
  2. Hubba Hubba! You are looking F - wait for it...fantastic
  3. I had surgery on Sept. 6th and was told at my 4 wk. appt. that it was OK to have some decaf. coffee. I have been having a cup every morning for the past week and have had no problems.
  4. I had surgery on Sept 6th and did one week of liquids followed by a week of pureed (and then pushed through a strainer) foods. On the third week I was allowed to go on a soft food diet and to chew 20xs so that the food was liquified before I swallowed. I am eatting mainly fish, eggs and chicken, haven't tried pork or beef for my proteins. I was told to avoid breads, rice and pasta until I was about 4 mos. out because of their "doughiness". I am also holding off on raw greens until then.
  5. I called the surgeons office to ask if I could take liquid benadryl. I did take it for one day and I continued to get worse. My primary was out of her office the last 2 days (vacation) so I called my sister who is a PA and her husband is a physician. She told me to get some Calritin and to also take the Benadryl. She also told me that if I noticed any change for the worse to get to the ER or an Urgentcare and that I would probably need Prednisone. The swelling has gone down a bit and I am hoping it will continue to do so. I was just wondering if any one had ever had an allergic reaction to either the Protein mixes or to Xylitol.
  6. I am having a nasty allergic reaction to something. As the title states I have hives, a rash and terribly swollen lips and swollen face. I have only had 3 things that I had never had before surgery Lifewater by Sobe, the artifical sweetner xylitol and protein drink mixes. I really don't think it is the protein because I have been drinking it for almost 3 wks without a prblm. I am leaning toward the xylitol since I had been putting a tsp. in my morning tea for the past 4 days and on Sun. had 3 cups through out the day. My question is has anyone else expierienced a reaction to the xylitol? Has anyone has an issue with the protein mixes?
  7. I had my drain removed on the 18th. It had been in for 2 wks. The few stitches that were holding it in place stung for a second when they were removing them but I felt nothing when the tube itself was being removed.
  8. I am 2 1/2 wks. post op and feel fine. I never felt any pain or discomfort from the surgery (except for an adverse reaction to the anesthesia and an allergy to the adhesive on the paper tape they used around the dressing for my drain.). I couldn't drink an oz. every 15 min. when I got home but can now drink with no problem, I am eatting pureed foods now and can do about 1/4 c sometimes a little less imagine that will increase over time. I am walking 1 1/2 miles a day and can't wait to get back to work. Except for the bruising on my stomach (and the inability to eat much) it is hard to believe that I had surgery. I hope all goes well with you.
  9. Hi everyone, I had my surgery on the 6th and am going to have my drain removed tomorrow. I was ill from the anesthesia after surgery which was terrible but had very little pain and except for once,, on the first night never used anything stronger then tylenol. I have dressings around the drain tube and have developed an allergy (a rash that burns and stings)to the adhesive on the paper tape I was given, so I quickly started using a different tape. I am so SICK of liquids! I am getting down 4 oz every hr. as the Dr. wanted and find myself FULL. I start the pureed stage tomorrow (pureed and strained for 1 week). I have never been a worry wart but am constantly worried that I will do something wrong.

  14. Truthfully, I might be a bit naive but I don't think this is an issue to be concerned with. I guess I am just curious as to why it isn't slowing (slower healing process?) and was hoping fo some insight before going to the Drs. I feel good and my tummy, aside from a little gas, feels fine. I will learn more tomorrow.
  15. Had surgery on the 6th and woke up with a drain in my stomach. No complications during surgery and leak test was good. I left the hospital on the 8th and was told that the drain would be slowing considerably within the next 2 days by a nurse. Well, here it is th evening of the 10th and I am emptying as much blood as I did on day 1. Is this normal? I go to the drs. on the 12th the day said drain is supposed to be removed and I don't see that happening at this point. My question is has anyone expierienced a similar issue? Is this a sign of a . problem? I can't find any info that covers this on VST...thanks.
  16. Good Luck Rainhaiter, I had my surgery on the 6th and I feel preety good today, I even walked a mile BUT I am only able to get in 2oz. of liquid an hour not the 4 they want me to get to.

  19. Surgery went well but I woke up in recovery retching from the anesthesia and continued doing so for 30 hrs. The first night I did have some morphine but requested only tylenol (periodically) after that. I never felt pain in my stomach area it was more in my shoulders and back and I believe that was from all of the retching I was doing. Home yesterday and I am trying to drink an oz. an hr. but am finding it damn near impossible to do. I know all will improve with time I just want to not feel STUFFED on an oz. of liquid ughh!
