In tears all weekend

Recommended Posts

I'm still crying. This is a long journey... I thought I would just have the surgery and viola the weight would drop off. It is a struggle with one thing or another every day. I have no regrets BUT it is trying my patience and taking longer than I thought it would. Good luck...just try to take everything one day at a time.

You might want to consider attending support group meetings. You will find everyone in the same boat as you, it helps to talk face to face with others who are going through the same thing.

Good Luck!

It is hard to do it on your own...but having the band isn't the cure all. I don't want to sound too harsh but it is just a tool. You will need to make proper choices and work out for it to work. Good luck...I am sure you are doing the right thing if you have tried to do it on your own already...just be prepared to be patient and work with the tool.

The day I got approval, I thought OMG what am I doing. I was OK till just before the surgery. Then when I was in the hospital, I was fine with it. We all go on a roller coaster ride of emotions but we all knew it was what we wanted and I don't hear of too many people that regret it later. It is a much slower process than the bypass, but I'm happy with it and believe it to me a much safer and better solution. Don't think you are alone. We've all been there and we are all here for you now.

Thankyou all so much for your kind words and support. In Australia we do not have these support groups you all talk about, what we have is the online support and the friendships we make off of these. I have not been second guessing my descion to have this op at all I am looking for a new life as a bandit and life with this tool that will at last help me to lose the weight :clap2: I just cant stop the tears Yesterday I said Goodbye to all my family some I hadnt seen for years and as I was doing it I started:think ....... Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
