Pre Op Diet Ticking Me Off.

Recommended Posts

I am at the end of my second day of a 31 day pre-op diet. 3 shakes and non starch veg plus plenty of Water is all I'm allowed. My sister made cupcakes tonight, I didnt want any of them which is good- but right now I'm in bed and starving!!!! I have resigned myself to the fact that I'm on the diet for a long time so trying not to get worked up about it. I have also been planning my parents 40th wedding anniversary cake and dinner tonight- then realising its a month after surgery and I won't be able to eat any of it!!

Yeah, 31 days! Lol. I have a BMI of just over 45 however on appearances he said he wouldn't have picked me for 40. So he is concerned my fat is mainly stored around my organs. He requested at least 3 weeks as he is concerned the amount of fat I could be storing around my liver will interfere with the surgery and if this is the case he will not operate. I have been eating a fair bit lately and Realised that if I waited another week, it would just be another week of eating bad food, so I decided that I would start the next day. I'm Australian, getting sleeved in Brisbane. Thanks for the support! No doubt I'll be needing it when I'm sick of this and just want to eat real food!

Same here Sept 3; I've told no one.

I'm having my surgery on September 7 and started my pre-op diet today. I've only told my husband and my children, but no one in my extended family and none of my friends knows. I'm glad to have found this web site. Every time I read through I feel better about the future and knowing I'm not alone.

Reading about everyone's pre-op diets make me feel terrible. My doctor only requires a 1 day liquid diet the day before surgery so I feel spoiled. I am trying to eat healthy bc I don't want to go into shock post-op, but I do plan to have sushi one last time this weekend bc I doubt I'll be able to eat it for a long time bc of the rice and sushi is my most favorite food.

Hang in there guys. You all seem to be doing good, even with a slip up here or there!

I start my pre-op diet Sept. 3' date=' my surgery is Sept. 17. This week i told myself that i was going to eat what ever i wanted. Well for some reason i don't want any food it seems that i am disgusted with it.. I hope i feel the same way when i start my liquid diet[/quote']

I was exactly the same way!

The week before my pre-op diet started, the thought of food made me sick.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
