Cheri - I can't just "Exercise." I have to do something I like. I hike, bike, swim, kayak, etc. Exercising is boring to me.

Where did you live? We can get small farm produce and I grow my own stuff and have a few hens. I hate it that we can't easily get grass fed beef, wild fish and game.

I am in!

1) I confess, I needed..yes needed.. this site especially when I was first sleeved and do feel the landscape of the site has changed a bit over the past year. Or maybe it is just me who has changed.

2) I confess, my husband has been a huge part of my success and I feel strongly you need good support during this journey.

3) I confess, I have recently found my "slider" food. My husbands' homemade vanilla ice-cream with a few dark chocolate chips.. I have eaten but also am accountable for it.

4) I confess, I LOVE being able to shop in a normal size clothing storessssss.

5) I confess, I will stay dedicated to good and healthy living as long as God sees fit for me to remain here and I will share my experiences in any way they may help others.

Whew, I may think on this more but, this was great to put out there and fun to read/relate to others.

Thanks

Yay! I'm not Catholic so I never got to take confession!

- I confess that like a lot of people, I drink diet soda. Not nearly as much as I used to, and only a few sips here and there, but I won't give up everything.

- I confess that when I feel like crap I regress to my childhood sick "food" and drink YooHoo.

- I confess I still drink caffeinated coffee, but only in the morning on the way to work. I need to wake up!

- I confess that I had some of a chocolate milkshake the other day to see if some high calories would make my body think it wasn't in starvation mode. (it worked - broke my stall and I lost two more pounds!)

- I confess that I secretely enjoy my wife being pregnant so she (who has always been skinny) is gaining weight while I'm losing it. :)

Cheri, I totally get the food thing. I lived in England for 2 yrs and Australia for 3 and last year when we came back I was really surprised at how different food is here. Granted I Am Pre op so I still eat a bit but I have become a lot pickier about freshness and making things from scratch.

I don't like exercise but see it as a necessary evil lol.

Too funny! Great post

Too funny! Great post

  • I confess that this journey is both harder and easier than I thought it would be.
  • I confess that in public situations I finagle things to make it look like I've eaten more than I have.
  • I confess that it makes me sad that I might never be able to consume a large sandwich with big old slices of homemade bread again (like I need it).
  • I confess that I occasionally use a straw.
  • I confess that I haven't told anyone about my sleeve and I don't plan on it. I don't need your negativity or opinions.

You go gurl, I'm with you on that one. I did tell 2 people but only b/c they are the supervisors where I work and I was out for a month so I guess they had to be told. I am amazed tho, no rumors going around (that I've heard), I guess they can keep confidence.

  1. I confess that I am 18 mos post-op and never started exercise till I was 9 months post-op
  2. I confess that I have been eating normal food up till the day before surgery and starting four days after surgery. I've only ever had one Protein Shake.< br />
  3. I confess I don't really count calories and Protein grams, I just try to eat healthily most of the time
  4. I confess that I have a coffee or two every morning -- starting from when I was still in hospital
  5. I confess that I never lost my appetite, and I'm actually glad about that.
  6. I confess that I've never vomited, slimed or gotten anything stuck
  7. I confess that there's really NOTHING I can't eat
  8. I confess that I drink wine at least once a week, sometimes more
  9. I confess that I weigh ever single day but I'm not at all fussed about the number, I just want to keep track of where I'm at
  10. I confess that this has been totally the easy way out for me, AND I'M SOOOO FINE WITH THAT. After all the crappy useless diets I've done? I deserved success.

And I confess that I look great -- and I know it. I haven't had problems thinking I still look fat. I look quite normal really.

Oh and PS -- I confess that I COMPLETELY agree with Cheri -- the food in the US is one of the reasons (truly) I'm not at all trying to relocate back to the states. So I also confess that it's easier to eat healthily where I live. And I confess that it's also easier to be active without being in the gym, as I use public transport, walk all over the place and rarely use my car. So I confess that my 'easy way out' may have been much easier due to circumstances!

I confess that I Have no ideal how to eat right still I'm on soft food so I eat and puke

I confess that food is always on my mind and whatever I eat is not keeping me full

I confess that maybe I should be walking more then I could but the pain is was keeping me from doing anything

I confess that I'm doing this all alone and no support from anyone

Phillygirl - you got support right here...VST... I thought the same thing until I came across this site. To me this site is my HOPE DIAMOND, looks good, feel great!! You Are NOT Alone :)

and the pain - I feel you, but I walk every (not as far as I would like) but with the job that I have I get in at least 2 miles - in stages - but I get it in. Your body will tell you when to go, and it will tell you when to stop, just listen and above all - take YOUR time ;)

I'm currently visiting Cincinnati. There's an okay farmer's market and a couple of places to get some decent meat, so that's alright. I live in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, in Central Asia. I won't lie and say the place has much going for it otherwise, although I don't really mind living there. But one thing they do have are amazing produce markets with mostly local produce (you can find imported stuff, though), butchers that use meat they acquire locally and they really don't eat much of the junk we eat here. Now, don't get me wrong, I can order french fries in a restaurant. But when I do, they cut up a fresh potato, fry it up, salt and pepper it and bring it to my table. It's not made of a pre-frozen potato plus additives. And trust me, you can taste the difference.

I realize my posts were on the negative confessions. Although I think I still look somewhat fat, I know that I am just having issues seeing the obvious thinner self in the mirror. This stems from being obese and seeing it for so long. I realize that I am much smaller and eventually my mind will catch up with my body. This will probably happen by the time I'm a year out lol.

POSITIVE confessions

1. I confess that I love being able to slip into a size 8 jeans

2. I confess that I am 5'4, 141 lbs at 6 months post op and likely going to reach goal--even though negative nelly is whispering in my ear that I won't.

3. I confess that VSG is the best thing I've ever done! And my mind WILL catch up with my body one day. I'm only 6 months post op and the mind work takes a little longer!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
