46 Days Out And Having Some Bumps In The Road.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'am having some issue's with chicken and turkey all of a sudden. I was told that I can have them in chunkier pieces and then chew really well. Well yesterday I had a Orowheat sandwich thin (1/2 of it) toasted. I spread some humus on it and then put sliced ( thin) no salt turkey on it (maybe 1 3/4 oz). Started to eat and MAN all of the sudden felt like a brick was trying to go down. It lasted about 15 min. I felt like I wanted to throw up, but didn't. It did pass. Anyone else having something like this? I really didn't think that I stuffed it down my down. Oh! on Monday I had the same thing happen with chicken....go figure!

I wish I figure this out so I don't hurt my new stomach.

It might be the bread at this stage. I can eat turkey or chicken, but cannot eat it on bread (even toasted) without it being really uncomfortable.

In my opinion, 46 days out is too early to be eating any kind of bread, even the "thin" ones. The humus and turkey slices are good choices, but the bread will stick and swell. As far out as I am my lunch consists of just cheese slices and chicken slices, no bread. So I eat a "breadless sandwich". Try rolling up some cheese, turkey, chicken, string cheese etc. and see how that feels for you. Even though we have all had the same surgery, it is still a little different for each of us and it is a trial to sometimes find things that work for you. If the bread isn't working right now (and I think that's what is giving you problems), stop eating it and if you really feel like you need bread then try it again in a few weeks. That's one thing you will find out, our tastes change. Somethings that we liked before surgery or right after surgery, all of a sudden we no longer like the taste or the texture of. Give it time, don't loose the faith and make sure and follow YOUR doctor's/nuts plan for you.

I agree, it was probably the bread, I also do sandwich roll up, no bread, I also stuff avocado in the middle,

I'm 7 1/2 weeks out, and bread is still off-limits. Knowing how I'm feeling, and how my sleeve is handling food, I can't imagine eating a sandwich at this point! :)

I'm pre-op and was wondering if you could have a lettuce wrap? That is a great way to replace bread.< /p>

Lettuce can be hard to digest and some docs say no lettuce for a while post-op.

To the OP, hummus can sometimes be sticky also, so the combo of bread + hummus might be difficult to get down. Maybe try substituting some light mayo instead of hummus if you really want the bread. Bread was a problem for me with the band, so I'm almost positive it will be a problem with the sleeve, even though I would kill for just a bite of a bagel!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
