Good Bye Band, Hello Sleeve

  • Popular Post

My name is Natalee from Birmingham, Al. I was banded May 2008 and lost almost 100 lbs within a year and a half! Everything was fine but then lost my insurance and was unable to have a fill for 2 1/2 years! But during that time due to family stress gained 80lbs back!

Recently I went to a doc in the box because I was constantly nauseous and sick. Doc said it could be related to my band but I told her it couldn't be! Sure enough, went to Dr. Touliatos at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham and the band had started to erode!! So he said it had to come out and he recommended have the sleeve at the same time since I'm still morbidly obese. Within a week the insurance had approved the surgery and I'm getting sleeved on August 17!! I'm nervous of course but ready to have this horrible band taken out!!!

Starting the Pre-Op diet tomorrow and counting down the days!!

That's great congrats

Alliecat1095 iam feeling pretty good for just having surgery. The worst pain is the gas but I have been doing lots of walking it really helps.

I am also having my band removed in Sept. I have had my band since June of 2011 and had some success, but due to lots of swelling, vomiting and "stuck" episodes my surgeon wants it out. Time for another route. Liquid diet starts in 2 weeks!

Pegsue I am glad u r doing well. I hopefully be sleeved in about 2 wks so I would love if you could keep me posted of your progress, what u did to help your recovery, what didn't help any info will be welcomed and appreciated. I will think of you as my leader and mentor.

Alliecat1095 is spent lots of time in prayer asking God to take care of the scar tissue and he did I am so amazed..be sure to follow the pre-op diet to a T and you will do great. How long have you had your band? After surgery keep walking it helps the gas and makes you stronger everyday. you will do great what is the date of your surgery? I will hold you up in prayer for the same success.

Pegsue no band...I am a virgin to gastric surgery. (lol) that is why I wld love to hear your progress. U r about 2 wks ahead of me. Aug 29th

JammyDancer so far I am already glad I had the revision and will just get better everyday. Make sure to follow the pre-op diet exactly to a t you will be glad you did in the long run. Good luck and you will love your sleeve I know I do already. I will hold you up in prayer on your big day let me know when that is.

Then it should for sure be a breeze I am excited for you..
