5 Days Post Op-Large Purple "bruise"-No Pain

Ok, I'm trying not to be concerned because Dr. Kelly didn't seem to be but Id like to make sure. I have a large purple "bruise" on my stomach. It does not hurt. Dr. Kelly said something about bleeding and cautizing (spelling?). Didn't seem concerned. However when his wife saw it as i was putting a bandage on she seemed a bit surpriced.

Now I'm concerned. Anybody else experience this? I just want to know this can be normal.

Other than that I feel fine except that I can't stand the smell of food - like when you have the flu or especially like morning sickness - all day.

I got bruises like that, but mine were the result of blood thinner shots they gave me before and after surgery.

Bruising is normal and I had a good bit around where I was cut, etc... I wouldn't worry about it.... :)

The bruising is a result of them having to use retractors to pull apart the incision that they pulled the removed portion of your stomach out of. Totally normal and nothing to worry about. If you check out my 3day post op video on YouTube you'll see mine.

Thanks I feel so much better!

I had some wicked bruises lol they were like dark dark purple. I'd say it's normal :) especially if you aren't experiencing severe pain.

I've been very lucky. no real pain. no problems getting in and out of bed, etc. felt queasy for several days but i'm think that may have been more to do with the taste of gas-x than the surgery. once i stopped gas-x queasy left unless i smelled food.

Me too had 3 shots of the stuff and only one bruised

I got some bruising but mine too were due to the blood thinner shots they gave me afterwards. Those shots hurt :( everytime they gave it to me. I hated it.

I am 9 days post op and still got the bruises, it's from where the put the blood thinner injections into your tummy, nothing to b worried bout... I had 3 in total

I didn't get any shots in my stomach (at least not while i was awake). Surgery didn't bother me but needles will send me running. go figure..
