So frustrated. Sleeved on July 17. Had many complications during surgery, lost my IV, surgeon said my hiatal hernia was so bad that after he fixed it, there wasnt much stomach left so almost had to bypass me instead. (did sleeve, but took nearly 91% of my stomach) 3 weeks later and I still can't keep anything down. 150g of Protein? ? HA! be lucky if I can keep 5g down. My throat is swollen and sore and anytime i try to eat ANYTHING, it gets stuck in my throat. I try to wash it down just to vomit the liquid. I put myself of liquids only again, but even they don't stay down. Now I think my body has hit starvation mode because I'm not losing. I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do :( Yes, I've talked to my surgeon but he said my body must be more "sensitive to this procedure" than most and to give it time. idk.... :( feeling lost

Rainy Girl, I was going to ask how you were feeling & think I copied your post in error.

I defiantly feel your symptoms cuz I have them too. I still drink out of a 2oz glass& I can barely get Water down. I got out of the hospital today & see a GI specialist next week. Take care!

what is c diff

It is a bacteria that is most commonly seen in pts who have a history of extended antibiotic use. Some people are more prone to get it than others. I work on a medicine unit and on any given day we have at least 3 pts with c.diff so it is not necessarily from bad practices just unfortunate. Hope this alleviates the worries that it might be related to having surgery in Mexico.

Dear Rainy Girl,

Sorry to hear you are having so much problems. I do know that I had pain in the middle upper back for several months which they said was from the hiatal hernina surgery. Did your iv come out during surgery? He expected me to have a lot more problems after surgery and take longer to recover from the surgery than my daugthter who had the bypass, the outcome was switched. It is most likely the hernia surgery that is causing your problems. Just don't overeat and although we were told not to drink when eating, I found in the beginning if I took a sip of tea or Water when I ate, it helped the food to go down. Do not have to do that now. If the vomiting still keeps happening and you are in pain, go to the ER so they can xray you and see what is going on, on the inside. We will be praying for you. Sally

@1920zeta - if u don't mind me asking? Why did u get a blood transfussion?? Was it because of the sleeve? Im a Jehovah's witness and as many already know we don't do transfusions so I'm a lil scared- I hope I won't need one!

My surgery was 7/9 & I'm in the hospital right now writing this. I have developed a bacterial infection in my colon & have C diff.. I went to the ER last night cuz I have had difficulty eating & drinking anything. I felt I was dehydrated & was hoping to get some fluids. They did ct scans & said my surgery looks good but may have picked up the infection in Mexico.

I have such a hard time getting food & fluids in! I know exactly how you feel. I Am hoping things improve for you & me..

Take care.

How are you doing now??? U are in my prayers....

Thanks for all your replys.. Ihad surgery with Dr Garcia but I don't really blame him. you can get c diff from taking antibiotics' date=' I guess they knock out all the good stuff in you & you are susceptible to getting other kind of infections.

I just want to start feeling better!

what is c diff

C-Diff or Clostridium Difficile is a bacterium that attacks your digestive system when you have a depressed immune system like with a surgery or hospital stay and often after IV antibiotic use and is rampant in nursing homes. What happens is it gets in and grows and then releases toxins into your gut and GI tract that eat up the mucous lining. Often the first sign is gut wrenching diarhea, not a little, but like you expect to see your intestines in the toilet when you're done. It is common for patients after WLS for multiple reasons and sux to have. Another fun illnesss that tends to go with it is oral thrush and candida on the skin. The yeast grows after the antibiotics mess up your system and it goes nuts, I've had it my mouth, on my incisions , vaginally and in my GI tract. Funny that what makes delicous bread can grow on/in you and drive you insane!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
