Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I have been an RN for 7 years, in Las Vegas, NV. Just had sleeve done on Oct 3rd. Still working on getting the gas out. Nice to get rid of this caregiver physique . Time for me to nurse myself. Glad this forum exists.

Hello, I am Meganmand have been an RN since 2001. Just changed over from infectious disease PHN to maternal child health. Anyhow I havent Ben on here in months and need to change my pic. I sleeved almost a year ago 10/26 and have been at goal of 133 for awhile now. It feels so good to be skinny again. Went from a 16 to a 4. It feels normal and I actually forget I have had the surgery since all the old clothes and new pics are of the new me!

I am so glad I did this with no regrets. Will post a new pic ASAP. Best to all the sleeve RN's. Kee going!

Hi all. I'm an LPN have been for 9 years. I live in Mo. I worked in surgery for 6 loved it hated the drive to work. Now I'm in internal med and have been differ the last 3 years. I have not had my surgery yet but i have to do 3 months for my insurance. I'm looking forward to April that's when i should have it. I'm so excited to do this. I (we) all need to take care of our selfs. We are so used to putting others needs above ours. Im so happy for all of us that are taking the time to take care of our selfs.

Why is it only a forum for nurses? Are y'all better than us who aren't nurses?

That's silly there are forums for latinos, african Americans, over 50s, lgbt...its just people with similar interests and backgrounds sharing experiences.

Hello all!

Well, I did it! Had my surgery on Monday the 7th with Dr. Pompa in Tijuana, and I think for the most part I am doing okay. I can tell u this, I have a newfound empathy for surgical pt. it has been tiring, and between getting my JP out and contrast dye leak test I have discovered a new meaning for the term 'gross'. But right now I am glad I did it. Lost 16 lbs on my prep diet, already has made a difference. Thanks to all who have gone before, and good luck to those yet to come.

Hello all. I am preop and hoping for surgery within the next month. I am an RN for 34 years and the last 10 of those years I have been an OB/GYN nurse practitioner. I am having all kinds of anxiety and emotions right now, as I know everyone has going into this surgery. I have thought about this for years but as it gets closer, fear is setting in. Yikes!!

I apologize for that statement. I was frustrated because I get no responses when I post. I am 3 months post op and am emotionally struggling.

Again I'm sorry

I understand. How are you struggling emotionally? I know that I get frustrated, especially when eating out. my eyes are big and hungry, but I take a bite to many, and boom, I feel ill. Watching everyone devour and savor the food pisses me off. it is a choice I made, and I am better for it, so I have to move on and find other enjoyable things to do. I can't complain about how I look, I am very happy with that, but still, I know the limited eating can be frustrating. There are days I want to eat and savor food, so I eat too many slider foods, too many carbs. That's a slippery slope, so I slap myself back in the groove. I have been stalled for a couple of weeks, so I started working out (hadn't even started in 3 months). It takes discipline and focus, but you came this far...you can do it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
