Good luck! I am a week out. I have to say its brought out some difficult emotions in me. Although I am very glad I did it. I wish someone would have told me that in the beginning (after surgery) is when u ask yourself, "did I do the right thing?" In my hearts of hearts I know I did. I feel great with a little soreness. I know this shall pass. I am very excited for my new life!! As I know you will be too.

chrissie, thanks for sharing your experience. I wish you a lot of strength to deal with these emotions, I'm sure it will be difficult but I know we will be celebrating in 6 months! Also your dog reminded of an old dachshund friend I miss a lot. He is super cute, congrats :)

How do you feel a week out? Truthfully I'm getting worried about the next 2 weeks and being on a liquid diet. I have not had to do the liquid diet part like some people talk about. Although I have drank my Protein shakes on my own. I was diagnosed in May with diabetes, that was my moment when I knew...this is it! I have to do something. I lost 30 pounds since then and now I'm getting worried about everything. Today has truly sucked with the clear liquid diet my doctor required.

Good luck to everyone! I promise you will be so glad that you made this decision, it may not be in the first few weeks, but you will. I'm 6 weeks out today and I am down 56 lbs, and I feel wonderful! Just take a deep breath and say to yourself, "I'm doing this for me"! We will all save you a seat on the losers bench!

Carey, I too found out I was diabetic in February. This is while I was going through my 6 month dietary plan. But I thought something was wrong when I lost weigh because I was thirsty all the time. When I started reading all the paper work I realized I could have grits. Honestly I had them for the first time yesterday but you only really want like three bites or so. But if your dr only wants you to have Clear Liquids I would stick to that. Eating broth wasn't bad either. After the second day u are able to feel when you are full. But what no one told me was that when your chest feels tight, that's when your full. But as time goes on you'll be surprised how easy it is. So don't stress about it. You'll do fine. My first week went by really fast. Also no one told me about Constipation which I have never had an issue with. So I'm just throwing that out there. LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
