Maybe Tmi...vitamins = Diarrhea?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 days pre-op. Started liquids today. Started drinking alot of Water instead of sodas over 2 weeks ago. Started taking chewable gummy vitamins and Biotin about 1 week ago (didn't take Vitamins before). I've been suffering from loose stools. Just thought I had a bug but this has been going on too long. In the past I've drank alot of water for this diet or the other and never had this problem.

However, this is the first time I've taken vitamins daily. Could this be the problem? suggestions?

Nope, it's not the vitamins, this is actually a common occurrence with liquid diets, it's liquid in, liquid out. Your body will adjust, and after surgery you will likely experience the opposite problem. But again your body will adjust.

this has been going on since before liquid diet but about time starting Water instead of diet coke. i've never had that before thats why i assumed it's the Vitamins.

Can I take anything preop that you know of to help with this?

I would assume it's due to the increase of Water, but that's just what happens to my body when I try and get healthy. Are you eating more foods that are high in Fiber? If you having a lot of problems, ask your doctor if you could take something, like an anti-diarrheal.

no, that's part of my problem, i don't eat high fiber foods. definately lean towards meats in my diet. In fact the most Vitamins i have ever taken in my life are over the last 2 weeks. even when pregnant i couldn't hold them down.

I will contact dr. tomorrow.

Protein will give you HARD stools........I mean HARD..... start taking a tspn of Milk of Magniusm..... if not look out for a VERY PAINFUL Bowel MOVEMENT................ you will be able to nail a board with your stool if you do not take the warning...............I tried the Miralax.............and it helped me NONE......... after surgery I had to endure the "self enama's" which some days I had to do 3 at a time......... prevent yourself the MISERY..take Milk of Magnesium.....and keep it up... to at least once or twice a week....... until you are NORMAL..............

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
