I was having blood work done and the lady hit a nerve in my arm. I am now having sharp pain in my right arm every time I move which is making my blood pressure sky rocket and feeling faint. It have to get better than this.

Welcome to the anxious and frustrated pre-op newbie club! Wish my blood pressure would have spiked the other day in the docs office. My insurance requires a BMI of 40 for auto approval, well doc comes in and informs me that before I can be submitted I was going to have to do a 6 month doc followed diet because I was not a 40. When I asked what I was I thought I would faint! 39.18! Needless to say, I am not going to be a happy camper for the next 6 months and at the end of this there is no gaurantee they will approve me! "Deep dark depression, excessive misery, if it were'nt for bad luck I would have no luck at all! Gloom, dispair and agony on me!" (This was words to a song of the old comedy show Hee Haw) Hope your journey gets better from here my dear! You will love this site for all the support and great tips you will recieve along the way! Good luck! ;)

BMI 39.18?? Surely you can buffet-it up to BMI 40 and visit a different doctor. :)

You are a good patient Silly Phylly. I would have made it my goal to gain enough weight to push me over 40. lol. You weren't that far off. What a crock. I'm sure that you, like the rest of us, have tried enough dieting to make up for half a lifetime. Good luck to you.

And Mrs T....deep breath in and repeat this mantra...it DOES get better!!!! :D

Silly....you should've worn your ankle weights. haha. I actually know a lady that wore weights strapped to her legs under her skirt for her initial weigh in!

I agree, go back in to doctors. That is crazy. Tell them you think the scale was off or go to another doctor. You are so close!!! Can't believe they didn't say something to you.

6 months wait for about 3 lbs? ARGH

Best of luck to you Mrs. T! As you see we are all in this together and you will certainly be glad you found it! Thanks to all for your support and advice folks. As I said in another post the other day, I did consider putting a rockin my bra and I figured that's what I get for thinking such. It will all work out somehow! I do have plan B, which is Dr. Alvarez, but I need to keep my head on straight and try the insurance route first. I shall pray for patience! Patience is so hard considering I want to be healthy now. If I knew I would be approved I would hop on that 6 month diet like white on rice! But who wants to put themselves through all that frustration, knowing full well you will gain it back because you are a food addict, and you have a stomach that constantly reminds you! I have seen a case on here that did it and got turned down because they did good and I have seen a case that was turned down for non-compliance. Please pray that I can meet in the middle and satisfy the insurance review team!

I have the same problem. My initial consult is this Tuesday. My current BMI is 38.9 and I need to have at least a 40 BMI for an automatic approval. I have considered wearing leg weights but afraid that I would get caught since my doctor's office has the new scales that breaks down your weight into different categories.

I was worried that my BMI would be just under 40 based on what I thought my weight was when I called the surgeon. We celebrated our anniversary the night before my consult appointment and had a steak dinner + loads of carbs. The day of my consult, I stopped for lunch on the way and had another steak dinner + a gutbusting helping of cheese fries. When I weighed in, my BMI was 41. A month later, I still feel like I'm digesting those steaks. :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
