Does anyone on here juice? My husband is very worried I won't get enough Vitamins so he juices, carrots, spinach, bell pepper, kale, celery and apple everyday and has me drink 4 oz. I am not sure it hurts and I know it is good for you. I just wanted to know if anyone else does and what you guys think!

I have a very nice juicer in my cabinet. I kinda quit when produce prices went up so high here a few years ago....I am curious to see what other people think (since I haven't had my surgery yet...)

Juicing is very good. You aren't gonna get much protien that way, but it's definitely a better way to get your Vitamins & such than taking pills. It's also much more expensive and a aim in the rear.

It is so awesome you have a husband that obviously loves you enough to be concerned about your nutrition! As a former nurse I would highly recommend you stick with it as long as he is willing to buy the the fruits and veggies and prepare them for you. What a gift! This will positivley effect your longterm health more so than anything. Cut your cancer risk greatly! Wish I had that kind of support and the means to be able to do it daily. I am actually teaching all sciences at my child's Christian school, therefore I do not make nurse money anymore. Juicing can be quite expensive! If he is willing drink it baby! Make sure he drinks it with you to keep him healthy! You need to keep him around for many years to come! ;)

I can imagine the huge gamut of Vitamins and minerals is much broader than what we even get with all of our vitamins - I bet you feel great. I think it would be fine unless you were consuming lots and lots of fresh juices - just due to the natural sugars - i.e. carb content. I wish my husband would make freshly juiced veggies and fruits for me - but we dont have a juicer.

Have the juicer, but not that kind of husband! Don't get me wrong I love my hubby, but he is just not the nurturing type. That's why he married me! I may go get the old juicer out and try it some during this blasted 6 month diet period. ^_^

Certainly, Carb intake should be taken into account! Many ways to do it without blowing the carb count. All green veggies are awesome for you!

Thanks for all the awesome comments! My husband is very supportive and I am blessed to have him. He is eating what I eat, drinking what he juices and he walks with me every night (we are up to 1.5 miles a day). He just prefers the fresh Vitamins I get from the veggies I am missing at meals.

I only drink 4 ounces a day so I don't think I am going overboard, do you guys, and it has helped to keep me regular. It is a little expensive but worth it!

Green veggies can affect the clot factor in your blood. Since most of us take some kind of blood thinner, at least during surgery, I think the juicing questions should be brought to one's surgeon. Also, be careful if berries are part of the juicing routine. Most berries were prohibited for me post-op until the six month mark due to tough skin and seeds that could possibly get caught in the staple line.

Definitely watch the carb counts when juicing, too. :)

i asked about juicing and was told after 4 weeks I can have some but I must mix it with half Water for a few months.

We have 2 of the juice master books and mum will go to a fruit and veg wholesalers.

If you buy a weeks worth of stuff its a lot cheaper than in store and because its kinda set up like a market (um English style not sure if you have the same markets as us lol)

You can go say how much for *list stuff then go to another and compare or say well that guy said this much and knock the price down.

The good thing about wholesalers is they want rid of everything every 2 days so they will sell cheaper and end of day trading is a good time to hit them too.

skin and seeds won;t go in the juice from a proper juicer they have a fine wire mesh that don;t allow anything but juice through even tiny seeds.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
