Any calcium based antacid(tums) may be good for temporary relief, but the reality is they not only absorb stomach acids, they also stimulate acid production. We really need some sort of PPI

Y'all should get accupuncture or sip on some Braggs ACV (2 tbsps and 4 tbsps of warm water) it's a natural cure and beats those chemicalized pills. Sip don't gulp and your acid reflux will go away.

How will I be able to tell if the prevacid isn't working? So far I have been heartburn free, but I definitely want to keep a close eye on it.

Thank you!

If it's controlling the acid, it's working for you. If you develop any of the signs that it's not doing the best job controlling acid, just switch to another brand. It does work for some folks, and apparently you're one of them!
