Why I Don't Like To Depend On Others

OK, I need to vent...

I asked ONE THING. Just one thing I asked for help with after surgery: and that's to get help carrying my laundry to the laundromat. I currently don't have a washer and dryer, so I asked someone in my family who, of course, I'm ALWAYS there for financially and emotionally to help me carry my laundry. Don't have to load the machines, I can do that. Just carry the doggone basket. Here I am 3 weeks out from surgery and need clean clothes. And here I sit...and wait...and wait.

It's hot as Hades outside and I really wanted to get this done first thing in the morning, so I could then go to the gym and then get on with my day. But unfortunately, it's almost 11am and I've neither washed clothes or been to the gym.

It is frustrating for me cuz I'm very independent. I don't ask for help unless I absolutely need it. So when I don't get the help I ask for and NEED, it just makes me feel so...unloved.

I'm tempted to just take the laundry myself, but I don't want to end up hurting my sleeve. But damn! I just wish I had people in my life who would consider my needs once in a while. :(

Do you have anything that has wheels on it--like a suitcase even? You could put the clothes in that and just pull it which should not hurt you.

  • Thanks for the support. It helps. I just felt really bad because I am that go-to person in my family when some folks are in need. And I always try to be there. Normally, i could just stuff my feelings

  • On a side note, some of you might wonder, "Why doesn't she invest in getting a washer and dryer already??" I ask myself the same question, because it's nothing to do with the expense. But right now, m

If you take me on the trip you can do your laundry at my house lol. I actually have a few extra laundry room so there will be plenty of room! (we are converting a Victorian house from a b&b back to a house....I have 13 bathrooms and four laundry rooms!). That's about ummm well way too many and no closets!

Oh wow, your house sounds awesome...or it surely will be when you finish. I would love to do that some day...when I have a man...and kids. Basically, rooms to fill. lol.

There are some fairly inexpensive washer and dryers out there. It might ultimately save you some money in the long run instead of feeding quarters to the laundry mat. I'm glad someone finally came to help you.

True...I guess it depends on WHEN I actually do leave for my 'round the world trip.

Wait' date=' I'll send me not-so-reliable relative to help. LOL![/quote']

Lmao...honey I have a six year old. That's all the help from unreliable relatives I need! Besides, I'll bet you're more fun :).

We bought the old box a couple of years ago. We absolutely love it but it's some work to restore since it hasent been a family home since the original builder died in 1920. We're on the national and local registers so our restoration is highly regulated. Lots of research! I just finished the gardeners cottage so a dear friend could stay there while she's in college. It was fun to do a Victorian cottage thing verses the house which is much more formal. After I boot out all of my guests I wanted to redo another parlor and the servants dining room, but I think the recovery from surgery will get in the way...which I'm ok with!

Iggy- I'm in love with your life!!! :)

Butter- you are hilarious, I love it!

CJ- can you take all of us with you!! :)

It's the same way for me I asked my son to move this bed that they sleep on at are house and he didn't I pick it up so i did.I should not have it was about 45 lb I'm 3 weeks out I makes me mad I don't get help so I just do it .im ok it's make me a strong woman.....

Glad you finally had someone come help you! It is frustrating when we try to be so independent! Keep going, girl, you will achieve your goals.

When is your surgery scheduled?

Here is one of my dream home choices (if I decide not to leave town for good): http://city.milwaukee.gov/ImageLibrary/Groups/cityDCD/realestate/2742State/PropertyInfo_BidRequirements.pdf

I would love to get this place and restore it. I watch a lot of House Hunters International and my favorite episodes are when they go to the French countryside and find these jacked up farm houses and convert then into a wonderful home. Sigh...

Be careful, Kansas. I totally know why you just did it yourself, though. I sometimes think part of the reason I got so big is I just started carrying everyone's load including my own. We have to learn to just do what we can and let the other stuff go. We have to take care of ourselves for a change. ;)

Sounds like a successful day. Triumph over old habits - asked for help; not giving in to emotional eating; insisting unreliable relative do the right thing; clean clothes; and a new idea for independence from said deadbeat relation.

All this and a trip around the world. Hoo ha. :D

AND I went to the gym too! Only did 30 minutes, but this was my first time back since surgery. Yay!!!

Now I just need to clean my house. Boo!

Iggy- I'm in love with your!! :)

Lol yes it's sheer glamour...I like to think I'm one of the real housewives of Beverly hills, but am probably more akin to the Beverly hillbillies. Whenever I'm getting too full of myself my son or dog or cat tends to drop a hair all or whatever they've hacked up into my lap to bring me back to reality heh heh.

Cj...omg that is one sexy house! I mean truly sexy lines! What a gem. Mind you I can tell you from experience you probably need to pump half a mill or more into it but what's money when you have your own Cinderella turrets! They have a pretty tight timeline on restoration though. We are on a six year plan (one major project a year basically) and even with all or most of the work being done for us we are still pushing it to be done then. But I hope someone saves it. It's unreal!

Our house is the original McMansion (1890s version). It fills it's entire lot and blocks the neighbors views. Better construction than today's McMansions, but it was still built to show off the original owners money bags lol. I wonder if he would keel over again if he knew what it will cost to restore it right? I don't know how to post a link here but if you google James house port Townsend aw you'll see a gazillion pics since it was a b&b for so long. I couldn't tell you how many people have slept and even died in my bed lol....but we have since changed the sheets :P.

Half a mill did you say??? See, that's why it's my dream home and not my actual home. LOL! But one day I would love to have a big old house. I love the charm, and I wonder about the generations who might have lived there before me.

On the other hand, forget about what I said about other generations. Now I'm thinking ghosts! LOL!

This post has gotten SO OFF TOPIC! But this is a better convo, though.
