I just recieved my surgery date, August 22 and I am afraid. I am not afraid of the surgery but of failing after. I am thankful that I found this forum, it has been a god send.

try not to worry about the future because you'll have a long road to go down before you get there and it will probably give you perspective that you never thought you could believe. remember that you will not fail. you may have slip-ups or bad days but this does NOT mean failing! go to support groups if your hospital/program offers them -- pre and post op. good luck! :)

I am waiting for my surgery date and I am afraid of failing too, I keep telling myself if I could do it without I would but here I am so obviously I can't. I am getting counseling for my anxiety related to the surgery and i am hoping it helps.

As Lea Anne said, try not to worry about the future. I've tried really hard to stay present in this journey and have done fairly well. However, I did have thoughts about failing but at 5 weeks postop, I'm not so worried anymore because my sleeve is awesome and doing its job! Best of luck to you on your journey.

You will notice lots of people were afraid of failing, but the sleeve works! Soon you will not think of food for emotional support or something to do while you watch TV, you will put food in your system to make you feel good, energetic, and healthy. Trust us

Mental preparation is key to a successful surgery and recovery. I will tell you this.... You will NOT fail and you WILL lose weight!! The way you eat now versus after surgery is sooooo different. You will not be physically able to overeat... Trust Me!! I had my surgery on April 16th and I can eat pretty much anything but just small portions. The full feeling that you will have is just like you feel now after eating a big dinner. You will NOT want to eat like you do now.. In all honesty, there are days that I wish I could have my old stomach back so I could indulge a bit more but when I think about it I just shake my head because there is no food that will make me feel as good as I do when I step on that scale and see my weight getting lower. I just LOVE how my body is transforming and when I think about how long I was miserable due to my weight I close my eyes and Thank GOD for providing me with the opportunity to have this surgery!

Best decision I have ever made!!!

Good Luck!

To hear you all is such a huge help. I do not anyone around me who understands, in fact I am not telling even family I am doing this. I did tell one friend so I will have a ride home after the surgery. I will tell my family after becaue they cant change my mind after the fact.

Hi Kimee, welcome to the boards. congratulations on your surgery date. It's an exciting, frightening, anxious moment we all go through, There are alot of other August sleevers if you want to meet them. Go and introduce yourself, and your name will be put on FutureSkinnyPants surgery board that she is keeping track of. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/38113-august-sleevers-where-yas-at/

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
