You know, I honestly don't remember having a catheter. Maybe I didn't have one? As for the drain, it was removed the day I was discharged.

I had a catheter, but every surgeon is different. It, and the drain, came out the next morning. Catheter hurt, drain was the weirdest feeling ever, both were over very quick.

I had a catheter during surgery but it was out before I woke up because they want you to walk/pee as much as possible after you wake up. I had my drain in for 7 days. Having that removed.....well, dont forget to take deep breaths! Then you won't feel the weird feeling! It was over quickly though :) good luck!

I did not have a catheter, contrariwise, until they got me on the right pain meds I thought I was going to pee myself everytime I had to move.

Had both, removed the next am, released at 12...didnt leave till 5...waiting for paperwork! Neither one was a big deal to me. Drain felt a little weird when he took it out but it was so fast...catheter was uncomfortable, not painful, even when removing.

I had neither. I hear a lot of people talking about the drains, but I never had one put in. They threatened the catheter if I did not get up and get moving and pee, so I started moving. I had a catheter with one of my deliveries of my second son and it hurt.

I don't remember a catheter, but I had a drain for 8 days. It wasn't a big deal, either while it was in or during removal.

Both my catheter and drain were removed the day after surgery, which is the day I was released.

I had neither! But, I did have a little trouble peeing after surgery. I was drinking a ton and had the urge to go but couldn't get it started. lol I literally sat on the toilet for 30 minutes without anything moving sometimes. It felt a little like a bladder infection because I had to go about every 1-2 hours throughout the night but could only manage a tiny tinkle despite sitting there for a while. BUT, everything was fairly normal 24-36 hours later. It wasn't painful, just annoying.

Nope no drain and cath only during surgery , it was out before I woke up...ask your surgeon, I was worried about both myself , and was relieved to find out I didn't need to worry!

Did your surgeon say you will have a drain?..not all surgeons do them...I wouldn't worry to much, many people have had drains and I'm sure some have had more than one dog lol...don't worry about it!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
