Need A Little Encouragement

Recommended Posts

I am 9 days post op and my daughter has a softball tournament out of town this weekend. It is the first one since my surgery. In the past, we would snack the whole weekend. My family still is. We have only been in the hotel for an hour and I don't think my husband has put down the Snacks. We even stopped at Buccees on the way here and got my favorite beaver nuggets. I don't want to sabatoge my progress, but it is so hard to sit here while they are all snacking.

Any encouragement / advice would be helpful.

Thank you!

It's very hard when others are eating normally around you, but try to think about how tender your new tummy is, and snacking on the wrong foods could actually hurt you. Sip liquids a lot, and have some sf popsicles and pudding as Snacks. Good luck, I know it's hard, but it gets easier! I'm at five months post-op, and I can eat just about anything. Next time you'll be able to snack a bit more, I'm sure. :)

LOL. I know it shounds weird. They are kind of like corn pops, but better and much worse for you. They are covered with butter and cinamon. Soooo gooooood.

Remember that they are not you. You know what you need to do for yourself. Don't let anyone else influence your choices. Make sure you take care of #1 because no one else is going to.

Darla5060 brings up a good point. A HUGE point. Snacking on the wrong things could actually hurt you. Your sleeve is still in the very early stages of healing and eating something contraindicated could cause a leak or worse!

I know it is hard but you have to hang in there for your health!

We even stopped at Buccees on the way here

Ohboy - I had my first experience with Bucees a few weeks back when we went to Corpus Christi for vacation. We stopped at the one in New Braunfels - that location is supposed to be the biggest convenience store in the world! I was in shock walking in to that place... Not to mention the hordes of people buying $2.99/gallon gas!!!

Does your hotel room have a mini-fridge with a freezer inside it? Going with Darla5060's advice, maybe you can send your husband to the store to get you some SF popsicles!

Ditto the advice already given to you. The only thing I can add is that continue to remind yourself that while you are in your honeymoon period (5 to 6 mths post-op), you REALLY want to take advantage of this time to loose the most you can.

I am very fortunate in many ways being single through this journey because I am the one who chooses what comes in the house, don't have to watch anyone else eat, etc. I can't imagine how difficult it is to be watching family eating the familiar foods you once did. In time you will be able to treat yourself, just PLEASE wait until you are further out.

Bever nuggets are like cracker jacks but no prize, ahhhhaa.

For a road trip I would load up on SF Popsicles, SF puddings, SF Jello, G2, too early for anything else

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
