3 Weeks Out, And Already In A Stall...

Thank you Blondee, I have heard about the dreaded 3wk stall, but of course, I swore I'd gey around it, lol. Im not stressed, but I'd br lying if I said I wasn't frustrated. Protien first is gosoel for this girl! :) xo

The three week stall is normal and expected. Normal stalls are at 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and so on. The thing to do to help break them is to UP your calories and exercise. When we eat so small a number of calories, our bodies go into starvation mode and slow our metabolism as much as possible. Exercise helps combat that. And you need to eat a little more (especially protein) when you are going to be exercising.

Realize that you didn't gain this weight at a rate of 30 pounds a month, so it's not going to come off at that rate either.

Also realize that the weight is coming off. And this time, it is gone forever! So even if it's not as fast as you like (believe me, I'm in the same boat), just sit back and enjoy the ride. This time next year you will be MUCH smaller!

How much protien do you consider adequate? I typically take in approx 70gr daily. My fault, is my Water intake, trying to work more on that. Im swimming 3x a week, burning approx 800 cals each session. Im going to start walking inbetween. Thanks for the heads up on the typical stall points, great info! :)

Having a bad day. I had my surgery June 4th and I still have not lost 10lbs. When I stood on the scale this morning and I still had not lot any weight I almost threw the scale out the window. I mean 8lbs in a month, I couldn't be more frustrated.

My dietician says 60 to 80 grams of protien per day,so it sounds like you are right on!

That really sucks. :( At least you are losing though. What does your surgeon say about this? There are others who have posted similar stories. It's discouraging to hear. I have lost 20 lbs since surgery and gained back 3. I thought that was slow.

Same here. I had my surgery on 6/11 so this Monday will be a month for me. I too' date=' was hoping I would have lost 30 lbs. by then. I am actually up 3 lbs. since my lowest weigh in. I know that when I can start exercise it will help, but barely eating as we are, (especially in comparison to what was) you would think that we would be dropping weight fast.[/quote']

In all actually not eating or eating very little is not the key. We need that Protein 80g plus or whatever your surgeon said. You will find that the weight will fall off once you up that Protein intake. And we all should listen to our experts drs, dieticians, nutritionists...they will not steer us wrong. I am guilty of wanting to do things my way so I will heed my own advice

Ms Vickie, I am regularly tsking in at least 70gr protien. Im not trying to veer from the diet I was given, im just in the inevitable stall that happens to most everyone. I am in constant contact with my Dr, and the only thing im not doing is getting enough, fluids, so today I managed to get in 7 glasses to my usual 4. I know in order to lose fat, it must be flushed from your system, so im hoping this will be the key to breaking my stall. Were sll guilty of being human, and I love that we can all keep eachother in check. Thanks for the tips :)

Hey Guys:

Hang in there. Stalls happen to all of us, some admittedly more than others. I am 4 months out and luckily have only had two stalls which lasted about a 1-2 weeks, but once it passes it's like your body kicks into high gear and within a week clothes that were too tight are too loose. Please be patient, your body is trying hard to adjust. I have had problems keeping up with eating and drinking; the issue being that I am seldomly hungry...I have to get back on the Protein Shakes and keep it up because I seem to be losing hair.

Try not to be obsessed with the scale...I know someone who weighs every morning (I think that's a set up because our weight fluctuates some much). I weight once a week (Monday mornings).

Me too! I will be 4 weeks post op on Tuesday and have stalled for two weeks and added two pounds! Talked to my surgeon yesterday and be asked me to log my food over the weekend and we will revisit it next week to see what's going on and where I should be. I lost 22# in 11 days and then nothing!!! I was in tears yesterday and swearing that was it and I'm not loosing anymore. My doc laughed and said ... No no don't you worry that- you will. It was reassuring. Good luck and keep us posted.

I lost 25 lbs the 1st 2 weeks, then 5 lbs the 2nd 2 weeks. I was upset too but I was told by my docotor's office that everyone hits a stall. Your body is adjusting. I don't own a scale so I won't find out if I lost anymore until my next doctor appt. Don't stress, just keeping doing what you are supposed to be doing & the weight will come off.

To be perfectly honest I can't wait until I start weight training although muscle weighs more than fat I would much rather have the weight of muscle than fat. Plus muscle is what's going to give me the shape and curves I desire...more definition. This will also help me to not focus so much on scale weight but on inches. When I had a personal trainer (in my late 20's) he taught me the benefits of weight training and my body looked amazing no dimples on my butt and no cottage cheese thighs lol

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
