Today Marks A Week For Me! 7 Days Is Finally Here!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Today I am down 16 pounds in 7 days! I just wanted to say thanks for all the support I couldn't get through this without each of you! I am feeling pretty good now but having a lot of what I think is hunger pains but not sure. I want to eat something so bad! Lol! Anyway I am doing better getting down my liquids than I was. I was having a hard time with nausea but it has gotten better and I'm picking up my fluids and going to town. Good luck sleevers and I pray for us all!

Good to hear you are doing well. Im day 9 today and just starting to have hunger thoughts. All last week when I thought I was hungry, I was really just thirsty. Take it slow on starting foods. What did you doctor say you can have week two? Amazing how each doctor is different. I'm still on liquids. Any type and try to get my carbs in.

Congrats on the loss. I'm also a week out today. I'm down 4 pounds from my pre-surgery weight. But if you count the 10 pounds I gained in the hospital (gas and IV fluids) I'm down 14. In your 16 pound loss are you counting pre- or post- surgery? A loss is a loss and to be celebrated, im just curious.

I was sleeved on 6/13/12 and I was on just liquids till yesterday. The first week was nothing but Clear Liquids then the next two weeks was clear liquids and protien shakes. I did notice once I started the protien shakes, I did start to feel hungry a little. But usually it was around the time for the next shake and it would go away for awhile after the shake. I did start picking at food as I was cooking for my family and for an entire week, I didn't lose any weight even though the rest of the time I did nothing but liquids. Live and learn I guess..... lol ..... Now I get to start mushy protien and veggies for the next two weeks. I found it hard yesterday to finish 3oz of protien and 3oz of veggies. Started to hurt a little in my chest while eating, so I stopped. I guess that's a good thing in a way. Good luck to you both and here's to success for all of us. :D

My doctor said 2 weeks of liquids and then after 2 weeks of liquids start the pureed food. Not sure how to do a pureed diet that's going to be intresting. Lol! If you have suggestions I'm all ears! I weighed myself the morning of surgery and was 289 and now I'm 273. I also weighed when I got home from surgery the next day and still weighed 289 so since I've been home I have lost 16lbs.

That is awesome! I'm on 2 weeks of liquids (day 5) then on to 2 weeks of puréed. I'm thinking puréed Soups, not sure what else. Right now I have to purée and strain my Soups. Oh, yeah, and I think I can add yogurt during the puréed phase.

I'm 9 days post sleeve and I'm down 18 lbs as of yesterday. 5 more days on a liquid diet then can start mushy food. My nutritionist suggested scramble eggs. Just make them really soft and I heard adding cottage cheese to it makes it even softer. I'm also looking for other suggestions on soft foods to eat. Though I cannot wait to eat again, I'm really nervous and hesitant on how my new stomach is going to react.

Hey girls!

Glad to see some people that were sleeved around the same time as I was, June 28th. My diet is 7 days of clear liquid all I had was sugar free Jello, and SF popcycles and crystal light lemonaid. I'll be honest I disnt get a lot of Protein in, but I was good taking in liquids. The chockem broth was making me vomit just from the smell!!!!My nutritionist gave me the ok to have a Protein shake yesterday. I had a smoothie king gladiator with strawberries and mangoes. It was so good!! It lasted me all day. Today I could start on creamy Soups and I made a lowfat potatoe Soup replaced cream with chicken broth and a little low fat sour cream. I puréed it really good and was able to have four small spoonfuls. It was so good to taste something normal!! I did put some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder in it. Some other souls you could do a puréed black bean Soup.< /p>

Would love to hear more of what you guys are trying and eating!!

I've lost 20lbs since being home!!! But I did gain 7 from my surgery.

I was sleeved on 6/25. I lost 10 pounds pre op. I have no idea how much I gained in fluids in the hospital but I have lost 8 pounds post op. my doctor gave me a week of clears. A week of full liquid ( which I'm on now), week 3 is puréed, week 4 is mushies, week 5 is soft and week six is gradually introducing regular food. Today I broke down and had 7 small watermelon balls. I squished them to liquid in my mouth and chewed the mush to liquid. Do you all think that is considered full liquid? It was wonderful

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
