Making Progress With The Red Tape

Recommended Posts

I Went to the Seminar on Thursday and they already called me today. They told us in the seminar to expect up to 2 weeks before they conact us, so I was excited to get a call from the doctors office this quick. She got info on my insurance and since my BMI is over 40 all I need is psyc eval and nut consult but that's it! My insurnace is easy as far as this process. THankfully so many people in my office have already paved the road for me so hopefully it should be smooth sailing. My first dr appt is July 10th, my nut and psyc eval is scheduled for July 11. She said the Dr. requires 2 nut visits so I will get that scheduled later. Once done they submit to insurance and it takes 2-3 weeks for approval. Nut apt is $75 per session so x2 and my Psych appt is $125 so all that is out of pocket. When it's all said and done with co pays etc, my out of pocket will be approx $500 which is going to be totally worth it. I want this now!!! I hate waiting. Hopefully, the end of Aug surgery will be set, Sept at the latest. Did I mention, I hate waiting!!! I know lots of Home work to do until then. Ive got lots to learn about what all I can and cannot eat afterwords, etc.

Congrats this is great news my insurance was very easy to work with as well. Does your Dr not have a nut on site mine did and I didn't have to pay anything for my visits with her? Just a thought. Also, the Psych eval is really easy I actually did mine over the phone. I'm happy for you with all the home work the time will fly by. I'm already 6 days post op. There are a lot of great people here that are all very supportative.

My doctor does have a NUT and Psy on staff that's who I am using, but for some reason they are not covered. :(. Bummer I know but hey I'm thankful for the bulk being covered and there are a lot of self pay out there so I shouldn't complain.

Good luck

I was told it would take about 4 weeks for my insurance to approve the surgery but it only took them one week!! Maybe you'll have luck too.

My doc has a NUT and psy on his staff, but they don't bill insurance. It's cash pay. I used his NUT, because it's only $35 a month, but I used a psy on my insurance and paid a $25 co-pay, instead of the $210 for the psy at my doc's office.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
