I have been a larger child for as long as I can remember. My mother has always tried to help me lose weight I have not always liked her help or understood it but now that I'm older I can look back and thank her for it. I was teased in elementary school by kids. In middle school I lost some weight during the summer by running every day and eating only half of what I really wanted. This worked for a while, I was still larger than I needed or wanted to be but I was losing weight right that was the goal. We moved to a different state when I was a Sophmore in high school. This was a great change for me because I went from being at a very small school knowing everyone to a very large school and knowing hardly anyone. I was able to hide in my new school. However, I felt like for the first time in my life I had friends that liked me for me no matter what I looked like. 2 years after high school I got pregnant with my wonderful son. After I gave birth to him I could not lose weight for the life of me. No matter what I did or tried I gained weight. The weight continued to creap on for years. In 2007, I moved to Fort Worth, TX and met a wonderful man which I am happily married to today. Because of him I have learned that I am beautiful no matter what size I am. In March 2012, I made up my mind and was set to meet with Dr Stowers office. My husband was very supportative and went with me, he wanted to know what the process would intel. When I first went for my consultation I was set on having the lapband done. I work with a few woman that have had it done and had great results. Although during my meeting with Dr Obi he told me because of the amount of weight that I wanted and needed to lose the lapband will not get me there. I was devestated hearing this because I was scared to have surgery. I went away from my consultation with great information on both the lapband and the sleeve. I came home and read even more and researched all I could, I wanted to know the good and bad things. In late April early May I made the decision to have the sleeve done. I contacted the surgeons office to let them know of my decision and from there the ball was rolling. On June 19th I made one of the best decisions that I could for myself. For once in my life I put me first I want to be a better healthier person so that I can live a long life for myself and my family. My husband is not in the best health and doesn't take care of himself like he should. I didn't want my son to lose both of us. I want to be able to ride a roller coaster with my son if he wants without worring that I can't fit in the seat. I want to take long walks or run a 5k with my son without him having to stop for me because I can't make it. I want to live like I have never lived before because I knew my weight was holding me back.
