I finally decided that it was time to take action. One would have thought I would have decided this along time ago. How many times I told myself this diet was going to work, or this time next year I am going to be smaller yet the scale always said bigger. It feels weird to know that after August 4th there is just no going back. Not weird why am I doing this but, finally I can see some light at the end of this tunnel.

Hi, I am new to this forum and this decided life. I am married to my twin soul have 6 amazing kids with only one left at home. 2 of the cutest grandchildren one could ever have, Of course I am bias. A career that I absolutely love, one of the most blessed people I have ever met. Great friends, exceptional chosen family and the only thing I am missing from manifesting my PERFECT life is ...... weight loss.

I live in a world of manifestation, belief in what I cannot see, and an understanding that everything happens for a reason so I even get or feel that it was not the right time till now.

I am excited to start this journey and scared at the same time. What will be my excuse then? What kind of excuses can I come with in the meantime? What will I face? because I know this isn't all just fat, I have 240 extra pounds of emotions sitting on these bones.

I guess it all starts with permission. It all starts with a choice. My choice.

If you have any advice about my impending 30 day liquid pre op diet I would love to hear. Any great words of wisdom about what I am heading into I am all ears. I am at this point in the learning growing stage and look forward to anything that comes.

30 day liquid pre op diet!!! Wow, that is the longest I ever heard of. But you can certainly do it. My advice would be, be planful. Always know where your next meal is coming from. Don't let yourself get hungry and then wonder what your gonna have to eat. I never leave the house now without a shaker bottle and serving of my Protein powder. If I get hungry I can just pull over and buy a bottle of Water and mix me up a shake. The shaker bottles with the little wisk balls in them are the best. Just as good as a blender.

And think of your pre op diet like boot camp because it may be the hardest part. But you'll know that if you make it through that, the rest will be easy.

Tomorrow is my Medical Status Review where we'll be going over everything prior to scheduling an actual surgery date...I hope. If there is a date in my near future, I'm sure they'll be giving me a pre-op diet plan & I share whatever information I get.

In preparation for the coming event(s), I've already decreased my caloric intake, having gone from a 2,000+ caloric intake per day to 1,600. I find myself hungry between meals, or at least I 'think' I'm hungry. Old bad habits & thought processes are difficult to break. LOL.

I'm so ready for weight loss surgery to happen.

You are STRONG and you WILL be successful! I am having surgery right before you on 7/23 and although I am nervous sometimes about the whole thing, I know that this is the answer to my obesity. I have to be on the liquid diet for 14 days so I too am going to the "Liquid Bootcamp". I am looking for ideas of things to eat during that time and hoping to make good progress before surgery to make it easier on me and my surgeon. I look forward to watching your progress and I will be here to congratulate you when you are joining the "Losers Bench"!!! :)

Thanks everyone...I am excited for sure..I have decided to start by doing 2 Protein shakes a day and one meal so that in three weeks I am only transitioning one meal not three....for the 4 week liquid diet...I suppose at the end of the day I have eaten what I want for 41 years..the way I want how I want what I want...I can suck it up!!! that is what change is about...making the change...

Hi icandothis :) I am in the same boat thinking about doing the shakes now till surgery, with that being said I don't have a date yet, however all my pre reqs are done. I have decided that I will do all liquid and if I slip then I won't beat myself up about it, I'll just keep trying to make liquid my focus.

I also am with you about having it hard to believe that this time next year we will not be the same. I look at my journals for almost 10+ years now and they all say "I will be skinny by such date" and I exercise and diet to no avail, now with WLS it will truly change. Can't wait!!! In someways I guess I accepted my life to always be overweight, now I see that I too am worth every dream and passion I have.

Way to go on your journey!!! Can't wait to see all your success!!!! :)

I am about 5 weeks out and I have also been making changes to my eating. I need to be on a full liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery, but I am also starting Atkins on Monday morning (about 4 weeks pre-op) to help me drop some extra weight. I am really having a tough time with some of the co-morbidities associated with the weight I have gotten myself to and I am ready to feel better! I wish you luck and a smoooooth as silk surgery!

Mamaof8,

I did the same thing. I was so inspired by everyone here that I started a pre-pre-op diet of low carb and high Protein. I've lost almost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. I also want to lose maybe 30 pounds before surgery because I'm miserable in this sick, achy body. I'm scheduled for early August and I can't wait to begin my new life. Good Luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
