Tingling In Extremities

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks post op and recently I've been experiencing tingling in my extremities. I researched online and found that this can be caused by a B12 deficiency. I went to see my surgeon yesterday for my post op appointment, and he gave me a B12 shot. He said that it would probably go away. I didn't feel any tinkling this morning, but it started back around 3pm today. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, please advise. I am really worried about this.

Thanks!

Tingling can be from many things. I would suggest you call your doctor back and tell him/ her what occurred.

Hi,

I had a potassium deficiency. My primary care doctor put me on potassium tablets (they're huge), and the symptoms dissipated within 3 or 4 days. I hope this helps.

I don't think in only 3 weeks you'd really be feeling the effects of B12 deficiency unless you were already deficient pre-op. I imagine the feeling is unnerving do definitely get yourself to a doctor.

So it turns out that I'm getting TOO MUCH B12. So whoever says that the sublingual (under tongue) B12s don't work is full of it.

I had my whole Vitamin panel run yesterday- and the cause if the tingling in my extremities (and now my tummy) is from an over abundance of B12. She pulled me off of it- and won't let me add it back for a couple weeks!

Good info for anyone having the issue :)

Still waiting on my Vit D- that's the only thing that hadn't come back yet.

:)

That seems really odd, everything I've ever read says that any excess b-12 would be flushed quickly through the urinary tract.

I'm might should back of mine a bit.

I literally never expected to have any side effect of too much- ever. But I know I don't like these feelings- so I will try anything at this point! :)

My B-12 levels are always off the spectrum on my last 18 months of lab results and I don't have any tingling; as OTR says, it's a water-soluble Vitamin and excess should be flushed out with your urine. Is your doctor certain it's the B-12 or just guessing because she can't find anything else wrong?

If it keeps tingling or gets worse, ask to see a neurologist.

I had numbness and tingling in my hands and arms. Turns out I had a severe (like I was on the verge of going in to cardiac arrest) potassium deficiency. Got that all settled and then I went numb and tingly from the waist down. But it wasn't my potassium that time. I had a benign tumor in my spinal cord that caused a mess load of nerve damage. So, yeah, if you have blood work done and all your levels are good, and you're still numb and tingly, def. go see a neurologist.

I will- there was questions about my back and spine- but I have NO issues with my spine. None.

I have two places that send VERY sharp burning pains in my lower shoulder blades every so often- but I'm pretty sure that's just my heavy breasts pulling down on my ever shrinking frame and hurting me.

The Dr said I need to get started with weight training to help that out- and then a breast reduction long term.

So when you had your issue with your spine did you have any pain or anything? I mean we're there any other signs?

Oh PS :)

This is not in my hands at all- nor my feet- this is in the meaty parts of my legs, calves, thighs, and now half way up my chubby tummy :(

Also thank you for the response

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
