Ladies-- How Did You Keep Up With Bra Sizes?!

Recommended Posts

I have never had a proper "bra fitting", so I think that's my first step! I'm a big girl, I've been wearing 48Ds. I have lost 70 lbs, and they still seem to fit alright (which seems WAY odd to me). The worst is when I work out....I was on the elliptical and thought the girls were going to detach from my body and fly across the room.

I'm also thinking of buying a band size small and get some extenders, and try out the genie bras as well!!

You all rock :)

You've never had a fitting!? You must. a right fit bra will rock your world. You'll feel loads better stand straighter and have the girls in order. I highly recommend doing it.

I admit, I've been using sports bras...because at the end of a 12 hour shift of lifting people, I couldn't deal with underwires anymore. And much like others, I'm having the "dissapearing band" problem.

I'll look into the Genie bra, though...thanks!

Bras are a four-letter word for me. I had a hard time finding bras that worked before surgery, and now it's even worse. At my heaviest, I was a 40I/J. The inches around my back were the first to go, while cup size is taking it's sweet time to catch up. So now I'm about a 34H, which most brands do not make. And I've ordered over $3500 worth over the internet and have only found ONE that barely works for my shape (the rest were returned). Those babies are not cheap at $60-80 a pop!

I'm in the same boat as I'm currently a 44I at the moment and dread losing weight. Thankfully, there is a store that I go to that does free fittings and has my size in stock but it is an awful experience. Though I've lost close to 50 pounds, I haven't gone for a new fitting yet. I'm trying to milk my current bras as much as possible because a) the company whose bras I prefer stopped making the specific style and B) those suckers cost around $80 each. I figure I'll wear them until I hit the 75 pound mark and then I'll buy new bras.

I'm just hoping I'll lose in the cup area as well as the band 'cause I'm sick of carrying around these boulders.

Since surgery is next week, I'll stick to lower impact workouts that don't cause me so much pain and do a proper fitting when I go shopping for my new work staples closer to returning to work. I've lost 50 lbs this year pre-op, all of my current clothes are already falling off but I'm just TOO cheap to really buy anything before surgery. The only thing I HAD to buy were some smaller undies for under skirts/dresses. My current ones ended up around my knees one day walking out of my last NUT appt :)

Apparently I was wearing my bras way to tight' date=' because they are the last things to begin to be big...I hate to admit this, but I hate shopping for that stuff...I actually moved the hook and eyes up on two of my neutral color bras, so I could keep wearing them![/quote']

I'm hemming mine lmao. Mom is lol. I was wearing mine too tight so i know they will fit well soon

For me the sports bra is the fix... Comfortable, I have bought 2 different sizes since surgery getting ready to downgrade again to a smaller size- this time xl or L so happy about that....

It did this

http://www.venusianglow.com/2010/07/tutorial-tightening-bra-band-without.html

It doesn't work with cup size, but helps with band size. I also bought new hooks and made the band tighter that way for a little while. Your straps are closer together, but it makes them last a little longer!

I started wearing the Genie bras as soon as I shrunk out of the bras I was wearing when I started losing. I ordered some from the commercial on TV, and others from the "same as on TV" section of a store. I found they had plenty of support for me. If you need more support, it is possible to wear two at a time. I also got some with the pads that slip in the front to prevent the "headlights" from being too obvious. I throw the bras in the wash, but usually hang them up to dry. I always remove the pads prior to washing the bras.

I case you wonder if the bras advertised on TV by different names are different or the same - they are the same bra. The differences are in the age market they are targeting the infomercials to appeal to. One commercial has 6 bras for the same price as the other commerical is offering 3 bras for.

These bras saved me A LOT of money while I was losing. I still wear this style of bras under t shirts. It is SO comfortable.

I took some of my favorites to a tailor and paid $15 each to have her take in the band. It's not great, but it gets me by for now. The only problem is now the straps are kind of far over in my armpits, so there is some pain by the end of the day and I can't wear cute tank tops because it shows through.

I need something to wear at night because sleeping with these things is a nightmare. They literally hang to my bellybutton and fall under my arms at night. I get a stretching and tearing feeling on my chest and wake up multiple times to "adjust them." If anyone else is "melon challenged" and has ideas, let me know. Genie bras and the such don't work for me because if the cup size works, then the band is huge on me (and vice versa).

JCpenney carries some.

My favorite bra is the balconette from Lane Bryant. It's comfy and hold my girls up. They are always buy one get one 1/2 off. I'm going to buy 2 different sizes and I should be good. I'm intrigued by the genie bra but worry my boobs are too heavy and saggy for it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
