I was sleeved 5/7/12. Just wondering if anyone out there has had their thyroid removed and if you have had issues keeping your thyroid levels good during the weight loss?

My surgeon said that this surgery does not"fix" thyroid problems, that still has to be controlled with meds,so I wouldguess you still need to have them checked by your pcp

I had thyroid cancer in 2007 and had both lobes plus 5 parathyroid glands removed at that time- I had lap band in 2009- band removed and sleeve done in 2011- for the first time since I turned 14 my thyroid is FINALLY at a normal blood level- I am on medicine daily (obviously) It has been a LONG hard battle and any thyroid issue- over or underactive makes it harder to loose weight but it CAN be done- don't use it as a crush- listen to your body- and make sure you take your meds same time every day on an empty stomach and have your levels checked often. The dosage of meds is also based on your weight- pre op i was on 400mcg now i'm on 200.. and it will continue to go down as I continue to loose more... good luck!

Me too- thyroid cancer. I just know that after every 20-30 lbs loss- we need to get our levels checked so we arent taking too much and have heart issues. So- be in contact with your endocrinologist.

I found that it was so much harder to lose weight after thyroidectomy. But so far with sleeve, so good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
