Way to go YODA!

I know how you feel with the prices at the GAP. Mom in law sent me a pair of dress pants and "guessed" at the size. I took them in for a refund (bought at Penningtons in the plus sizes). I was SO EXCITED!

I have a specialist appt after Christmas and I want to have lost even more to show him that it was a good choice. Have a great week!

Hmmmmmmmm okay....I think I have to admit to myself that I might have buggered up my knee 10 days ago. Right after one of my workouts (two Tuesdays ago) when I got off the elliptical machine I took a few steps and got an odd painful spasm in my knee. I thought it was just like a "crink" ya know...and had to work it out....then over the next serveral days it would get a sharp stabbing pain when I moved it a certain way (but the pain wasn't constant....just sometimes when I moved it or bent it.....). So, I haven't worked out in 10 days (on purpose because of this) and I made a doctors appt. (but it isn't until 15 Dec) to have it checked out. Wellllllll, today after work I did a bit of shovelling (omigawd, we went from nothing to about 30-40 cm of snow today....*sigh*) and after I came in the house my knee started to hurt continuously....(ie. not just sporadically)....and I'm limping now. So, I don't think I can stay in denial any longer....I will go see the doctor tomorrow (squeeze in) and see what the up is.....cause something is buggered for sure.

I don't get it.....I have been using the elliptical for several months....it's not like I was new at it....ya know?

Anyways......hopefully all is well because it sucks not having been able to work out for the last 10 days.

DAMN %!#%^%%$&^&*^ snow!!

uh oh Yoda.... that's not good. Let me know what he says... and ask him why my knees have started to make a crunching sound when I bend 'em. *gag*

UPDATE:

Okay....so I woke up this morning and the constant pain in my knee was gone...(back to the sporadic) so I'm back in denial now! I'm not going to see the Doc today (I'm sure much to Mr Yoda's dismay); I will wait to see my regular doc at my appt on the 15th. Really though.....no use going if the pain isn't there when I go......!!!

Just happy it is gone.

GO FIND OUT!

To be honest with you my knees are kinda screwed up right now too. I was going to talk to my doc in Jan.

Do you think that maybe because we can't eat a whole lotta food that maybe we are lacking some kinda Vitamin for ligaments or cartlidge or something. Don't you think tht it should have been alot worse when we had soooo much more weight on????

Be careful, and take care!!! Let us know what doc says!

I hear what you are saying Cloe, my back pain got worse after i lost weight, here i am thinking it is going to get better and instead it gets worse, what the hell is up with that.

Don't wait too long to see the doctor Yoda, mister Yoda is right you know you should still go and get it checked now. Take care.

Maria :)

Hmmm, ya'll are funny. Okay, I did end up going and it turns out that it is probably a small tear in my cartilage (it should heal on its own over time)...I was given some prescription anti-inflammatories/pain killers to take. The only things is (DAMMMMIT) that I can't do any impact exercise......(&^$$#$#%^%$^$$# I realllllllllllllllllllly need to do exercise..........without it I won't lose.

*sigh*.

I know I know....I have to let it get better but it SUX.

:tired

Hmmm Yoda, torn cartilage does not repair itself. It may feel better after a while because the inflammation may subside but once a tear always a tear. I don't understand why Docs don't tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth!!!!! The good news is that I have torn cartilage in my knee and it hasn't bothered me in years. Don't despair, your knee could get back to doing all the activities you were doing without pain and without intervention.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
