I'm just now starting to tolerate jalapenos again. They were one of my favorite spicy things pre-surgery, but they've make Rex unhappy every time I've eaten them post-op until this week. I'm 9 months out.

So there is hope, thank you lissa! My sweet mama made me some turkey chilli today with red crushed pepper flake and it went down great. The jalapenos being fresh might have been the issue for you, since you actually have to bite into the pepper. Any who thanks for your advice. [=

I know Crazycatlady's hubby (who had RNY I believe) is a huge hot pepper nut' date=' and I love my hot spices as well. I'm still on stage one (liquids only) but my own research has shown things to start to get back to what you would consider "comfortable" after a while.

I will test jalapenos with Staypopped the Mushmallow Man when I get to that point.[/quote']

Im two weeks out and on purees, just attempted red crushed pepper flake with turkey chilli went down good. Good luck with ur endeavors. [=

Everybody is different. I'm currently enjoying some really thin refrained Beans with hot long green chilies blended into them. The texture is not great, but the flavor & heat is heaven.

This has been on my mind lately! I'm Trinidadian (from the Caribbean) and I grew up eating habaneros like it was nothing. The thought of not being able to but my homemade pepper sauce (a concoction of garlic, cilantro, habaneros, lime, salt, vinegar) on food for perhaps weeks makes me sad....but I'll get over it! Pre-Op I flavor my broths and Soups with BW3s blazing sauce, which is amazing! I get sleeved Monday, so we will see what happens on the Post-Op side. :-)

I was a "bad" girl and starting hitting the chili garlic sauce while in my pureed stage. I was eating cottage cheese and it just needed a dash of chili garlic to make it more interesting. I am about 3 months out and I still use my Steve & Ed's Louisiana Hot Sauce, Sriracha, chili garlic sauce and such without any issues. Granted, I am not trying to "burn" a hole in my stomach or anything. I have just been adding enough spicy stuff to give my food flavor.

I haven' tried spicy foods very much since my surgery but am slowly building up to it. I plan to stop at the Thai restaurant run by a local family and get their homemade Tom yum gai Soup. It has fresh lemon grass and is made from medium to hot depending on your tolerance but is absolutely wonderful.

Im caribbean as well (st.croix, virgin islands over here). Pepper is nothing to me as well. Im 2 weeks out and was able to tolerate red crushed pepper yesterday in some chilli. Dont start with habaneros, try a milder pepper, just gotta build it back up. Alot of people have been telling me that at a month out its alot easier. Good luck to you and am praying for a speedy recovery for your surgery monday! See you on the losers bench soon. [=

I'm eight week sport op and LOVE spicy/hot food. In fact the hoer is is the more I like it. So far i haven't had an issue and I drench my food in something hot or vinegar. Probably should be careful so as not to burn a hole in tummy...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
