I had my sleeve on May 17also. Down 31 pounds from my highest. After surgery I felt a little sore but very good. Have not had any acid reflux or burning etc. I have had head hunger lately. Any suggestions to get past this?? I have not regreted any of this so far. Thanks Dr. Pompa.

shane, I, too, have been experiencing the head hunger. When this rears its ugly head I get and do something to distract my mind. Typically I clean but you could also go for a walk or something that appeals to you.

Welcome Shane, I'm Shain, congrats on 31 lbs gone! Good to hear a problemless recovery also. Head hunger is something most of us deal with from time to time, especially since the majority of us are recovering food addicts & unfortunately our addiction unlike others we can't completely abstain from.

It does sound like your doing well though.

Shane, come back Shane <----- Bet you never heard that before;)

I am at a stall too' date=' I think it is going to happen. It is just our body adjusting to the new liquids or foods I think.

I was sleeved May 15th. I go for my one month follow up next week. The only problem I had was a slight allergic reaction at the incision sites from the internal sutures. Benadryl cream has worked wonders. To date I have lost 35 lbs although have not been on the scale in a little bit waiting til friday so I stick to once a week and don't get neurotic about it, lol.

I'm new to this site, so wanted to start by saying Hi to all! I had my sleeve on May 14. I started my pre-op diet in October 2011 and lost 24 pounds before surgery. SInce my surgery, I have lost another 19 pounds. I had a stall all of last week and have refused to weigh myself this week, so I'm not sure if its continuing. It has been a bit of a downer, but previous posts I've read seem to indicate that a stall at 2/3 weeks is normal, yes? Looking forward to sharing and learning a lot here!

I was sleeved on May 29th & have lost 26lbs as of today. It’s coming off fast which is exciting BUT I am miserable and at times I really regret my decision to do this! Never thought it would be so hard mentally for me!!! I really thought I was ready and prepared…nothing I can do about it now! I did also had a very large hiatal hernia repaired which has made it even more difficult to get anything down at all! Therefore I am left with no energy and very dehydrated! :(

My follow up appointment it today, cannot wait to hear what he has to say.

Starting weight 05/22: 242

Today's weight 06/06: 216

Hi all,

I was sleeved 5-29. I had my fist post op appt today and I have lost 20 lbs :D since May 14th. That is when I started my liquid pre-op diet. I had actually gained some right after surgery but they told me it was all from the surgery. Excited to see where I am at for my full 2 weeks which will be next Tuesday.

I will be two weeks out on Friday. Highest weight pre op was 229...218 day of surgery ...233 when I came home....207 this am. Talked to my nutritionist today and she said to expect to lose about 10 lbs a month. I would love to prove her wrong!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
